Another home invasion caught on video...good thing she didn't have a gun...right?

Not likely.....since in most cases criminals run away from armed victims.......even when they begin the encounter with a surprise attack...just like the store clerk who had the gun to the back of his head, turned around and shot the criminal........

1) criminals don't want to get shot...it hurts...

2) if they are shot and injured it makes it more likely they will spend time in jail

most criminals run away as soon as the victim produces a gun....

Like the old lady who was being robbed, pulled a gun out of her purse and the robber put his hands in his pockets and walked away......

Yes likely.......Women are not trained killers

The woman would have fumbled with her gun, got off an errrant shot and the intruders would have pulled their weapons and filled her full of bullets

Another victory for second amendment rights

Since you have no clue what you are talking about you should simply remain quiet...and do some research into actual self defense shootings...what you say is not true...I post all the time with stories that show that normal, law abiding, untrained or minimally trained people fight off and survive against violent criminals. The criminals are alone or attack in groups and the victim still fights them off....often without firing a shot...often having been ambushed or surprised...

So do some actual research into self defense shootings....then you would actually have a fucking clue.....

You don't however post when a defender loses which also happens. In the past I have posted a long list of defenders who were shot and injured or killed. You give only one side of what could happen. There are of course success stories also.

I don't have to post the times when the good guy loses.....every other democrat controlled media outlet does that for me.....I am the balance.......I show the other side.....

I don't think you do. Just saying there are two sides. I hope the good guy wins more than loses. But the chance of success depends in the person. Cameras are probably better for many.

A layered security system is better, a dog if you like them, cameras and an alarm, good locks...making sure you actually lock your door, peepholes so you can see who is outside your door before you open them, keeping your cell phone charged and on you.....and as a last, final resort....a pistol with plenty of training....if you can afford it.....

If she had a gun she would have provoked a shootout and ended up dead

Not likely.....since in most cases criminals run away from armed victims.......even when they begin the encounter with a surprise attack...just like the store clerk who had the gun to the back of his head, turned around and shot the criminal........

Are you trying to make an argument against letting the little ladies into the military or into law enforcement?

Women get training. A woman is as capable of handling a gun as anyone else.

My solution is not always carry a gun....since not everyone wants to...but against a violent criminal attack a gun is the most effective way for an individual to survive the encounter....and it doesn't matter if they are old, injured, physically handicapped, a small female or male, outnumbered by the attackers, wether the attackers are armed or unarmed. A gun makes the individual on par with one or more armed or unarmed attackers and there is no way to get around that....

In this attack...she is lucky....that is essentially how she survived the attack...pure, dumb, luck.......is that how you want to enter an encounter with a violent criminal.....giving yourself over to their good will or just relying on pure dumb luck?

It might have been the cameras. They had to know there was a good chance of being caught at that point. They weren't going to commit murder on camera.

Yeah......and you would trust these guys to know better?........good luck with that.......

Good luck? That seems to be what happened, no luck necessary.

It was only luck.....she could not stop them...so it was entirely up to the violent criminal how that encounter ended....and she got lucky.......lucky they had some control, and weren't completely high on drugs, or decided that they weren't afraid that the camera caught their image and decided to kill the only witness...

You have chosen "pure dumb luck" as your tool for survival.....good luck with that.....
There is not luck in deciding to have cameras.

Really.....that is where you go.......the luck comes in when the criminals decide not to kill the victim.......pure dumb luck.......

That is the case with many armed defenders. Many times the criminal could kill the defender and chooses not to. You have posted many like this.

In an altercation, the victim might lose. Or might win. Without a method of self defense, the victim will certainly lose.

actually, it isn't more likely...for example, studies show that a victim with a gun is the most effective way to stop rape.......above any other measure to stop the rape...guns also have been shown to reduce the risk of injury to the defender during an attack....all from studies on the subject...

Your conjecture is wrong.......

I never said it would have been prevented, I said she likely could have stopped the robbery, and had more control over the outcome......instead of relying on the good will of home invaders and pure dumb luck.......and we also know that when criminals have guns and victims do not, victims are often raped, beaten, robbed and murdered......while victims with guns often drive off violent criminals and save lives....

11 gun studies say it is less than 2million. Most defenses are by people involved in criminal activity.

That is a lie that you keep spewing brain.....the average of gun studies focused on non law enforcement, non military self defense use of guns comes out to 2 milion times a year....and most defenses are not people involved in criminal activity...that is something you made up because it sounds good for grabbing guns.....

Your posts are based on pure conjecture about what MAY have happened if the victim had a gun

I merely reply with conjecture on what would more likely happen if guns had entered the equation

actually, it isn't more likely...for example, studies show that a victim with a gun is the most effective way to stop rape.......above any other measure to stop the rape...guns also have been shown to reduce the risk of injury to the defender during an attack....all from studies on the subject...

Your conjecture is wrong.......

You have to do better than that....
Single instances where guns worked does not provide proof

You say the situation in the OP would have been prevented if guns were present
I say guns would more likely lead to death

What we do know is that no guns were present and nobody was killed

it isn't single instances...on average it is 2 million times a year that guns are used to stop or prevent violent criminal attack and save lives...that is a lot more than "single instances."
