IMHO That's just a silly absolutist argument that completely discounts political reality, a significant majority of Americans support protections for childhood arrivals (by one poll 70%) so to simply stand on a "no 'amnesty' of any kind" position would significantly damage the Republicrats electoral prospects. What they CAN do is strengthen the eligibility requirements for deferred action protection and pathway to citizenship, eliminate chain migration eligibility for those that qualify and limit or eliminate eligibility for future arrivals.

They're not going to deport those protected under the DACA "program" that have been otherwise law abiding and employed/going to school because it's not politically or logistically feasible, nor is it economically desirable. What they can do is work to engineer the LEGISLATIVE implementation of the program in a way that utilizes a merit based system to determine eligibility for both deferred action and eventual pathway to citizenship, in other words EARNED "amnesty". Such a strategy is completely inline with what Trump says he wants for immigration (merit based) without opening up problems related to chain migration and incentives for future illegal immigration.

Of course expecting the two Washington Crime Families to come to an agreement that results in a win-win scenario has become an exercise in science fiction these days so I expect that we'll get some bastardized monstrosity that serves only to further divide the citizenry against itself and ultimately does more harm than good.
