The liberals (mostly Democrats) want to re-write history by denying the truth of the 4 statements made in the OP. The Democrats are bigots. Democrats have long given lip service only to minorities.

There was a conservative wing in the Democratic Party for about century, give or take.

A left/right coalition existed in the Democratic Party existed during that time period.

That coalition began to fall apart under Harry Truman when Truman began to actively push for civil rights. That push began to alienate the southern conservative Democrats.

By 1964, the southern conservative Democrats were in open opposition to the Liberal wing of the party. The coalition had all but disappeared after that. The liberals went their own way to become the current Democratic Party; the conservative Democrats began first to start voting Republican (as in 1964 election) and eventually to become Republican.

And now they've devolved into the Cult of the Teabag.....
