It is well established fact that in those locations with the most restrictive gun laws crime is higher then in those locations with less laws. It is also established historical fact that in those States that have enacted concealed carry or open carry crime has gone down.

If anything, the rising numbers of surveillance cameras and phone cameras are doing more to prevent crime
