Just as crime is lower in areas where conceal carry is permitted and legal gun ownership is not impeded, soldiers who can protect themselves are less likely to be massacred by a lunatic.

Our highest crime rates and murders are in gang controlled areas where everyone has a gun. There is no deterrence in thinking that someone else might be armed. They shoot anyway
More anti-gun laws aren't going to stop criminals. There are already laws against murder but that doesn't stop murder -- does it? Nope. And do you know why? Because criminals don't care about laws. That's why they're criminals. Lots more deaths are caused in America as a result of medical malpractice than as a result of guns. Lots more deaths are attributed to car accidents than to guns.
