At What Point Did Conservatives Stop Being Conservatives?

One thing about liberals, they will never stop being liberals even when their party goes off the freaking charts. Who ever thought the party of JFK "ask not what your Country can do for you but what you can do for your Country" would degenerate into a choice between freaking socialist or the psychotic wife of a pervert president.

Just curious. Just wondering when conservatives decided to throw away what it means to actually be a conservative, and instead chose to embrace authoritarianism and extremism.

What was the turning point, exactly?

(I'm not referring to the conservatives here who do not support Trump, y'all have my respect -- even if I disagree with you on virtually everything.)
We never stopped....but we did out the GOP'ers pretending to be conservatives and who are now siding with an authoritarian and extremist in Hitlery....

They are too stupid to understand how radically different JFK was from Obama, Bill and Hill.

In their mind JFK was a "progressive" because he made deals with MLK Jr. , and that is all that needs to be said.

well, it's certainly at a boil now. but this has been coming since lee Atwater and Ronnie Reagan. there is also a deep strain of anti-intellectualism in the GOP base that has been festering for a long time and has been encouraged by politicians for their own gain.

so now you have people ignoring fact and telling us it's "the liberal media" if they don't like what they're hearing or if what they're hearing doesn't encourage their confirmation bias.

"Over the last 30 odd years, Democrats have moved to the right and the right has moved into the mental hospital. So what we have is one perfectly good party for hedge fund managers, credit card companies, banks, defense contractors, big agriculture and the pharmaceutical lobby... That's the Democrats. And they sit across the aisle from a small group of religious lunatics, flat-earthers and civil war re-enactors who mostly communicate by AM radio and call themselves the Republicans and who actually worry that Obama is a socialist. Socialist? He's not even a liberal."

I'd say any conservative who is still a member of the Republican Party is no longer a conservative.

Rustic, why do all of your posts have jack shit to do with the thread topic?

Bill Maher is doing exactly what he thinks talk radio does.

At what point did liberals stop discussing politics and launch into arcane nonsense subjects?

Trump is not a conservative and neither is anyone who follows him. Conservatives do not want the kinds of changes he is suggesting. The correct term for him is "nationalist" and his followers are right-wing radicals. Abandon the term "conservative", you teabagger rage addicts have made the term all but meaningless. The sort of calm stoicism that marks a real conservative is absent from your ranks and is entirely unwanted.
