A nation can have a common language without it being codified in law.

A nation does not need to ban all other languages to have one common language.

The OP used an alleged definition on "nation" from Merriam-Webster. I looked it up and it did not say what he claims. It said the opposite. Maybe he has a special addition.

Naah- he just looked for the first definition that suited his purpose- and left out the parts that didn't- he doesn't truck with honesty much.

Well to be fair to Protectionist- everything he has said in this thread is asinine.

America was/is a beacon of hope with the Radio Free Europe broadcasts. If we eliminate non English broadcasters here, we would have no standing in broadcasting on RFE.

You can have your English only law if you want. Shoot.........we'll make it a requirement for voting even. People have to show they can speak and read at a third grade or higher level in English before they are allowed to vote. Matter of fact, go ahead and make all government forms in English only, as well as anything that is official has to be written and spoken in English.

Let's go full blown English on this one.

However................if you're gonna hold to such a strict interpretation of the First Amendment, I want you to do the same with the Second.

No guns for civilians that hold more than 10 bullets at any one time, as well as bolt action rifles only for those who are civilians.

If you're part of the military, or part of the National Guard? Have any weapon you want. You're part of the "well regulated militia". Same thing if you served a full enlistment and were discharged honorably, you are part of the reserve militia.
