Big mouth Natalie Maines is back at it again !

Doesn't matter, they just do. She risked her career and spoke out. Paid a big financial price. She and her business partners have decided it is worth the cost for the privilege and right to speak out about what they believe in. Their integrity is more important to them than making more millions to add to the millions they have already made and the profits they continue to make from sales of their music and royalties. Some folks respect their honesty and courage to speak out dispite potential financial cost.

So her sacrifice of her career by slamming on an American president during a time of war is a good thing in your view?

Your self destructive view of this woman's idiocy is a prime example of the insanity of libtards.
When did it become inappropriate for citizens to criticize a President leading up to or even during a war? Do citizen rights get suspended when a President decide to lead the nation into a war?

Hey dummy, no one put a gag around her mouth. As you even pointed out, she was willing to pay the price, so she spoke out, and it pissed off a lot of people and many of those decided to stop being fans of her and her group.
She wasn't silenced, she had her say, and fans then got the opportunity to judge.
So what is your problem? Why are you so angry about what some singer said?

You really think you can avoid the plain and obvious truth of this matter; that Maines gave aid and comfort to our enemies in a time of war?

Really.

And what "enemy" did she even refer to?
Quote?
Link?
Wet dream?
Anything?
Lol, now you pretend to be stupid. How does that win your argument?

One does not have to refer to an enemy to give them material to be used for their war propaganda.

It is incredible that you think forcing me to assplain this to you is somehow convincing for your delusions.

London is a fucking enemy? That's who she was talking to, Dumbass. It was a statement of reassurance, and the audience, again for the deaf, heartily approved. And again for the wilfully dense, the US had no enemy in Iraq. The whole point was that the Bush fantasy war never needed to happen. London already knew that; the Chicks already knew that -- THE WHOLE FUCKING WORLD already knew that, which is why in the middle of the previous month it (the world) made its statement with the largest protest in human history in six hundred cities, London being one of the biggest. And that then-fresh event, and the universal sentiment therein, is what she referenced.

All Maines did was confirm what everybody already knew, and stand up for the honor of her state.

Which is not your state anyway, so butt the fuck out.

I got news for your ignorant ass --- Everybody who travelled outside the US around that time had to come up with our own Natalie Maines statement, whether we were from Texas or anywhere else. THAT is the position the boi-Prez put all of us in. The entire world was against it --- which you never heard here because the same corporate media at whose trough you lap, the same one that later squelched the Dixie Chicks' record sales --- but only in this country --- sold you that war and you lapped it up like a puppy.

Try thinking for yourself instead of following corporate orders blindly with a "yes master, may I have another", damned intellectual wimp.

Why is anyone complaining about her exercising her right to free speech?
If anything give a rebuttal to what she said not just complain that she said it.

It's not the 'right', it's the content !

Why do some of you have such a problem getting this ?

What about the content?

Let's review it again for the Illiterati. Roll tape.

"Just so you know, we're on the good side with y'all. We do not want this war, this violence, and we're ashamed that the President of the United States is from Texas."
"On the good side with y'all" refers to the massive world-record demonstrations that took place around the world three weeks prior, London being one of the biggest with an attendance estimated between one and three million attending, in London alone. An event that could not be ignored, protesting an unnecessary war pushed by a US President who goes out of his way to splash "Texas" in his personality.

And here's a music group on stage who go out of their way to splash their Texas personality.

The association is obvious and begs a response. And she delivered it. And the audience heartily approved.

Mostly it's a statement about Texas.
Still not seeing any reference to an "enemy" though.
Are native born-and-bred Texans not permitted to opine about Texas?

Exactly who the fuck are you to decide native Texans, standing in London, which is in England, which is in Europe---- can't defend their own home? Are you fucking nuts? Do you eavesdrop on other people's phone conversations too? Hack people's e-mails? Dig through trash cans? Wtf dood?

And for the millionth time dummy, she is "permitted" to spout off whatever she likes, and the marketplace can reward or punish her.
Simple as that sonny.

Maines was giving aid and comfort to another leftwing dictator on the eve of our war with him and so hate-America-first libtards have to rush to her defense, as always.

And for the third time --- what "leftwing dictator" did she refer to?

The quote is sitting right there above, complete and verbatim.

Where is it?

Exactly.

I didn't agree with her then, as I don't now. My way of retaliation was to not purchase her products.

So simple, even a caveman should understand.

"The Marketplace"
Read: "The gaggle of robots who do anything the corporate media machine tell them to"

Diga me this Tonto -- how does a DC record barely climb to 37 in the "marketplace" --yet it's number one in downloads?
How does a band's popularity wane in the States while it simultaneously soars in Canada in Europe?

Bit of a contradiction don't you think?

You don't know jack freaking shit about the music business. And the emphasis is on business.

"Marketplace" my fucking ass. Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain, Dorothy the Useful Idiot.

I saw it. You did not "merely" (only/just) disagree but took it one step further; accusing her and anyone else that speaks out against political leaders during war (or in this case not yet a war) as "aiding and comforting the enemy", per your response to post #202. Maybe you used that word incorrectly, thinking it meant something else?

How dare these libs try to silence Donald Trump ! Don't they believe in the first amendment ?

Donald Trump Critics Petition NBC To Dump Miss Universe, Miss USA & ‘Celebrity Apprentice’

As Donald Trump picks up steam in his bid for the GOP nomination for President, some of his more personally fervent critics think NBC should do more than just distance themselves from the blunt-speaking businessman-politician. Critics have launched a campaign via Change.org (remember them?) to petition NBC to cancelMiss USA, Miss Universe and Celebrity Apprentice. And in just three days the petition has gained more than 175,000 signatures.

Well, someone in this thread is accusing a songwriter-artist of aiding the enemy for expressing her political views. That is some right wing radical crap. What Romney, a Presidential candidate, did between the attacks on Cairo and Benghazi was aiding and abetting, not what some singer-songwriter said during a musical performance.

You should quit while you are behind. You have been defending the boycott of some musicians and now you are promoting the boycotting of a news broadcasting company.

That is what I don't understand. The need to retaliate with something other than words.

My favorite part about the Chicks shooting their mouths off, is that Liberals suddenly started liking country music.

Considering the statement they're obediently virulently objecting to is "we're ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas" ---- logically they must think she is compelled to say the opposite: "we're proud the President of the United States is from Texas". They actually want to dictate what Texans feel when talking to an audience in London.

I mean that's just fuckin' freaky.

Of course they never did think it through that far; they're just parroting what the corporate puppetmaster told them to say. That's why they come up with desperation lines like "comfort to the enemy". An "enemy" which, of course, he can't name since it didn't exist.

Interestingly, if this had been in 1967 and the protests had been about Vietnam, they could have made the exact same statement. Wonder how many of them would have taken the same position in that event.

The Chicks had already crossed over to creating a country and pop collusion. The female country stars that followed the Dixie Chicks copied the Chicks and expanded on their transformations of getting a start in the relatively easy country venue but morph into pop as quickly as possible, i.e., Tayor Swift. Ever since the Chicks the country venue is known as a death trap, or at least, a very limited venue for all but the biggest names with the biggest masters controlling them.

I'm actually not a fan of their music now. I was in the earlier days as noted backthread. That doesn't matter here though, as it's not the point; the point is the unwashed enabling corporate jingo-balls McCarthyism. That ain't democracy; it's anti-democracy.

What passes for "Country" now makes the real Country -- the one that had character and integrity, the domain of the Jimmie Rodgerses and Dave Macons and Buck Owenses and Johnny Cashes and Hank Williams (the real one) and Merle Haggards --- ashamed to be associated with the same label, which has been made into a mockery by that same corporate music business. All they have left is corporate rock music wearing a cowboy hat. It has all the artistic integrity of an Egg McMuffin.

"I don't even know the Dixie Chicks, but I find it an insult for all the men and women who fought and died in past wars when almost the majority of America jumped down their throats for voicing an opinion. It was like a verbal witch-hunt and lynching."--- Merle Haggard

There are still a few performers out there that have not sold out completely to Nashville. Dale Watson and Hank Williams III come to mind.
