Homosexuals still have "the right" to get married to each other by any church willing to perform the marriage. This "ban" doesn't change that in the slightest.
I don't believe that is true. In most states, if not all, you need a marriage license to get married, which is another encroachment of government that needs to be gotten rid of. We shouldn't need government permission to be married.
That is false. I've been going to gay weddings for decades. The marriage ceremony by a religious or any other institution is a ceremonial rite, unregulated by government. If you want to take advantage of the state and federal benefits extended to married couples, you need to apply for a marriage license in order to have your ceremonial rite recognized. Right now, the federal government only recognizes ceremonial rites performed between men and women. Gays want the same benefits extended to them when they have their ceremonial rites. Why should they be denied?
