Reimbursing someone to cover up a crime is a felony.

There is speculation about why Trump is freaked about letting his tax returns go public.
Remember, Trump has six bankruptcies from his casino's.
When you go bankrupt, you can claim a certain percentage to be tax deductible. But the percentage can't exceed your investment.

Trump is famous for claiming he uses OPM (other people's money). It's assumed by many that Trump's ownership of his casino's was through OPM. If that's the case, and Trump received a big tax windfall based on OPM that he had no right to, he's looking at hundreds of years.
And because it's the IRS, there is no statute of limitations. So the crime would be just as fresh today even if it was committed decades ago.

The tax returns would tell the tale.
