Can we cut the bullshit about spending under Obama?

Obama has cut infrastructure, science and r@d funding the past 5 years.

80 billion out of infrastructure since 2009. :(

Wasnt 2009 the year they passed the "Stimulus" that provided for $47B in extra infrastructure spending? Wouldn't spending go down once the funding ended for those "shovel ready" projects?
Yeah.
Libs are bad at math and history.

As for the OP: The U.S. owes $7T more than the day Obama took office. That is 70% more than the deficit was, even counting the "massive deficits" of Pres Bush. There is no way to spin that number with "rates of increase" etc. It represents a massive failure by the Democrats, who are entirely responsible for every penny of it since they controlled Congress from 2006 to 2010.

And yet the deficit is falling faster than it has since WWII

Are your numbers coming from the same place as the ones that were just last week proved lies? Um... OK :cuckoo:

The numbers might be correct. But they need context.
Let's put it this way:
You're going along, you have maybe a $1000 balance on your credit card. You get some wild hair and decide you're going to spend 1700 and charge all of it. You now owe 2700. But instead of spending $10/mo on the minimum payment on your previous 1000 balance, you're spending 100/mo on your 2700 balance. Your deficit is dropping faster than ever. But are you really better off?

As high as the deficit is, its non sense to put the principle blame on Obama. It would be Bush's fault!

You cannot take credit for a deficit decrease when you were the one who increased it in the first place, unless you're Hussein Obama.

The deficit is falling because of massive tax increases and the sequester. Both of which Obama refuses to take credit for. Thusly, he cannot take credit for the decrease in the deficit.

Obama isn't running the White House don't you know. He's just there for the ride. Nobody tells him anything.

You're right. He doesn't know anything.

Because teh deficit was $7T when Bush left office and is now 17T? And that's Bush's fault, how?

This proposal contains both spending cuts and tax increases.

How many times are you liberals gonna repeat this ridiculous claim? If Obama wasn't over-spending, the debt wouldn't be $7 trillion higher than it was when he came into office. The facts just ain't on your side. Sorry.

Whoops

Now, as the economy expands, the growth of federal spending as a percentage of GDP will get smaller. Since the amount is an even smaller part of the entire monetary worth of the entire economy. Meaning that it can spend the same amount, or even more money than before, so long as the economy continues to grow as well. So, that chart is disingenuous. Should you compare Obama's spending with previous economies, the federal expenditure rate would considerably greater.

Why do you think the GOP spending the nation into oblivion is a good thing, while the democrats bringing fiscal sanity is a bad thing? :eusa_think:

LMAO is right.

So Obama gets credit because the deficit is dropping faster than before but he doesnt get blame because it increased massively? What are we smoking today?

All three branches of government get credit for that one. Yeah, including republicans believe it or not.

Republican is not a branch of government. The Supreme Court is not responsible for spending.
That leaves the House, the Senate, and the Presidency. Now, which party controlled all three of those insitutions for most of the last 9 years? Hint: It wasn't the Whigs, the Greens, or the Republicans.

Yes, my mistake. I meant just executive and legislative. Ok if you want to give all the credit to the democrats for shrinking the deficit go right a head.

The deficit was $159 billion.

The Debt was $9 trillion.

Yes, they get credit for raising taxes $600 billion dollars and refusing to pass a budget so we can keep track of spending.

Good catch. The idiot libs throw around terms like "deficit" and "debt" so often and so indiscriminately I get sloppy with it myself.
Obviously the crucial number is the debt. When there is a deficit, the debt gets bigger. Whether it gets bigger faster or slower is largely irrelevant. It gets bigger. And at some point it will be so big people will lose confidence in our ability to service it.
