That’s how a lot of Congressional freshman start out but sooner or later they all become part of the D.C. establishment and go along to get along.

One might say the same for Trump, but his message is not about unity and he does not share a real leader's optimism and belief in the goodness of all citizens.

Well, neither Reagan nor FDR were political newcomers. Reagan was a natl political figure (but somewhat derided by the establishments) for decades. Eagle who sometimes posts linked his debate with RFK over Vietnam. FDR had been Sec. of the Navy and a VP candidate before suffering polio (or perhaps Guillain-Barre) JFK probably knew his health would fell him before old age.
