Them Catholics are making waves this week! Blocking the baseball stadium entrance and now look at this.
Catholic Cardinal says "peace can only be achieved through a united commitment to nonviolence."
But be respectful, this is a "Cardinal".

Last month, Cardinal Joseph Tobin, the Archbishop of Newark, wrote a letter that asked Americans to toss our Second Amendment rights aside and rally for peace.

He wrote, in part:

Let’s voluntarily set aside our rights in order to witness the truth that only peace, and never violence, is the way to build a free society that is lived concretely in our homes, our neighborhoods, our communities, our nation and our world.
But, is becoming less dangerous, less capable of defending ourselves, the right path to societal peace?

The Cardinal’s viewpoint is clear: peace can only be achieved through a united commitment to nonviolence. To build a society without violence, we must voluntarily disarm, respect each other’s differences, and listen with open hearts.

Naw, Sarge, you miss the point.

They only like Catholics who hate Trannies.

They don't like Catholics who advocate for gun control or immigration reform.

There are bad Catholic priests here and there, and bad popes at times. These political opinions have no bearing on church matters. The Church survives them as does humanity. Stick to the good priests.

I walked away from the Catholic Church in 1983 and never looked back.

Except most gun deaths aren't criminals.

Most gun deaths are SUicides, Domestic Violence and household accidents.

So let's eliminate those, and THEN we can move on to tackling the criminals (who will find it harder to get them when you can't walk into a store and walk out with them.)

You cant prevent people from killing themselves

All you can hope for is to make them use a weapon you approve of

And in any case knock off the bait and switch

Libs use criminal violence to float their gun confiscation boat

Suicides are a last minute afterthought

The Cardinal can FOAD, right along with the pope which sits on his throne in Rome.....Fuckin' hucksters.

Wrong, most gun deaths are criminals...usually gangs defending drug turf or social media insults ..........

Keep actual criminals locked up...which means telling the democrats to stop releasing them from jail and prison, and gun crime goes down abnout 95%.

Such unmitigated gall of the catholic hierarchy demanding peace!

No, but you can make it harder, and some of them will reconsider.

Nope. Only 13% of murders are gang related.

No....you have been shown this before.....

Gangs and Violence

Armstrong: Let’s turn to questions of where crime is coming from in our country. How much violent crime takes place in the subset of the population we would typically associate with the gang culture?

Kleck: In places like Chicago or Los Angeles, it’s a huge fraction of it. It varies enormously from place to place. It may well be that half or more of the gun homicides in those cities are gang related. But in most places in America, it’s a somewhat more modest fraction.

We don’t have national figures that are of any use. For what it’s worth, in the FBI uniform crime reports data, they do have a category for the circumstance in which the crime was committed. One possible box that local police can check in filling out the homicide reports for the FBI could indeed be for gang-related.

But the problem is that the FBI forms require police to check just one circumstance. So if a guy belongs to a gang, and he was selling drugs, and he has a dispute with his customer over the price, and then they get into an argument and one shoots the other, that could go into any of three or four different categories, only one of which is gang-related. So those data are useless.

What we’re stuck with are local estimates, and, as I say, it varies enormously from one locality to another. It’s a huge percentage in a couple of cities. Chicago and Los Angeles have really bad street-gang problems. On the other hand, in Peoria it’s probably a relatively small fraction, certainly well under half.
