No, it has to do with stupid motherfuckers thinking that they don't have to obey the laws of our nation.

Bundy was breaking the law, cops showed up to enforce the law, and then stupid fucking yokels who didn't know shit about the situation showed up with guns because they hate having a black President. That is all that happened here.

And when the cops backed off so as to avoid slaughtering all of the stupid fucking yokels like Confederate rebels, the stupid fucking yokels claimed it as a "victory". A "victory" for protecting a rich man's "right" to not obey the laws of this country.

Fuck Cliven Bundy and the "militia". I'll give those assholes some respect if they cross the border to storm the NSA data-mining headquarters in Utah and burn it to the ground. Let's see these dumb fuckwits actually try to take on the government over something that matters.

This whole episode was just a bunch of stupid yokels protecting a criminal.

We don't have to obey bad laws.
Really? So when are these dumbass yokels going to stand up for every American who has had their homes and land seized by the US Federal government over some marijuana?

No, these stupid right-wing yokels just don't want to obey those laws which they think are wrong, and that isn't how a successful society functions.

"Range wars" and disputes with the government over those lands have been going on since before the Sagebrush Rebellion which was under WHITE republicans and WHITE democrats. Nothing to do with a Black president.

Look it up:

Sagebrush Rebellion. 1970-1980s!

Sagebrush Rebellion - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

If you supported occupy, and complain about this man you are nothing more than a hypocrite supporting the SAME activity! Actually, no Occupy have been paid hundreds of thousands for items (books, tents) left on PUBLIC lands they were told to remove and did not. They cost the 99% tens of millions. Now get off your high horse, it's going to hurt as you fall off.

This isn't a rebellion. It is just a bunch of right-wing assholes who don't know shit about anything showing up to defend a criminal who repeatedly disobeyed court orders.

As for the "Sagebrush Rebellion", fuck Ronald Reagan.

This potential for abuse is compounded by the strong financial incentive that law enforcement has to make seizures--since they benefit directly from forfeited property. It was the passage of the Comprehensive Crime Control Act of 1984, part of the Reagan-era ramp-up in the war on drugs, that first made this possible. At a federal level, the law established two new forfeiture funds: one at the U.S. Department of Justice, which gets revenue from forfeitures done by agencies like the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and another now run by the U.S. Treasury, which gets revenue from agencies like Customs and the Coast Guard. These funds could now be used for forfeiture-related expenses, payments to informants, prison building, equipment purchase, and other general law enforcement purposes.

But equally important, local law enforcement would now get a piece of the pie. Within the 1984 Act was a provision for so-called "equitable sharing", which allows local law enforcement agencies to receive a portion of the net proceeds of forfeitures they help make under federal law--and under current policy, that can be up to 80%. Previously, seized assets had been handed over to the federal government in their entirety.

Immediately following passage of the Act, federal forfeitures increased dramatically. The amount of revenue deposited into the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund, for example, soared from $27 million in 1985 to $644 million in 1991--a more than twenty-fold increase. And as forfeitures increased, so did the amount of money flowing back to state and local law enforcement through equitable sharing.

Anyone who is against the Bundy's should be banned for life ever eating beef again.

As a sign of compassion in the face of such harsh punishment, Harry Reid and his family should still be allowed to partake in cow pies.

Occupy repeatedly disobeyed court orders, the thing you seem to be sooo upset about with Bundy. people were raped, killed and died at Occupy. They instigated violence with police and tried to break into buildings.

Look as they put their baby's in the front lines in the middle of a freaking protest with police. Sick. But Bundy is the bad guy? Occupy is to be supported and praised costing lives, sanity from rapes, and tens of millions.

Sagebrush Rebellion was going on far before Reagan became president. It is a rebellion about over reaching government.

An extension of the older controversy of state vs. federal powers, Sagebrush Rebels wanted the federal government to give more control of federally owned Western lands to state and local authorities.

Not sure why drugs have a thing to do with Bundy.

Reply to the author of post #86, who in his usual misguided fashion thought that going overboard with bolding and increasing the size of his message people will flock to agree with him.

Since I don't agree with you, I refuse to quote your post.

The answer:

If you need to compare two acts makes sure they are on the apple to apple, orange to orange level, which, this situation of the Bundys and President Reagan's war on drugs, surely is NOT.

People die, lives are destroyed, families are broken up, murders, thefts, break-ins, acts of brutality etc... etc... are committed because of drugs. War on drugs, hopeless, though it might be, mainly because of creeps like you, is a worthwhile endeavour.

Name just one murder, just one family destroyed, just one home broken into because Claivin Bundy lets his cattle graze on the land that belongs to the people of the State of Nevada and the Country of the United States of America, which he is one of.

Okay, still has nothing to do with Bundy. It does not affect his plight. Get mad at Nixon he started the "drug war". Heck, pot was made a Schedule One drug under Nixon, the highest class.

Did you know that it was a republican governor who lead the eponymous "Shafer Commission" appointed by Nixon? He presented a report to congress which favored ending marijuana prohibition, legalize personal use and find other methods to discourage use. He lost a highly coveted judgeship because of that report.

Hatred is consuming you over cows eating grass.

The left is stuck in the 18th and 19th century in just as many issues as the right. Both are sick!!!!

This isn't about slavery, as it is based on something totally different. They get this shit from their stupid professors self hatred of this country.

None of you Liberal Dirt bags will comment on how much land the Feds own in Nevada. Should the Gov't own 100% of it in your BS version for the United States.................

None of you will comment on the current land grabs AS NATIONAL MONUMENTS under a 1906 law by Obama. aka executive order without the Consent of Congress.

In your world the Feds can do any damn thing they want, and don't need permission from Congress. They can piss on the Constitution when and where they please.

If this is vision for America then stick it where the sun doesn't shine.

This isn't about COWS or TURTLES but Gov't Power and NOBODY HAD BETTER DARE OPPOSE IT.

Your side is pissed because we a saying up yours to your Statist views.

That should be enough to get these Statist punks going this morning.

Defending abuse of power because it's in their insanity.

OWS is, in part, a protest against the rich being above the law for all practical purposes.

The "cattle battle" was a protest to protect a rich man's continual opinion that he is above the law.

That's the major difference in conservative opinion I see here. If a poor person, a OWS protester for example, takes part in a protest "the authorities" do not approve of they are to be forcibly removed and punished (yay cops). If a rich man, say a rancher, decides on a course of civil disobedience then he is to be protected (boo cops).

Civil disobedience can be righteous thing when it is done for the good of all but in this case it's a selfish impulse that benefits no one except one man. Those dummies could have ended up shot and for what? Another man's cows, nothing is more frightening than stupid in action.

Abuse of Bundy?

I knew this would just get worse...you give the freeloaders a break, they just want more and more and more.

I find the use of the term freeloader to describe Bundy hysterical. That man likely works harder than most of us on a daily basis. Why don't you use this term to describe the people on welfare or extended ue benefits?

On the one hand Liberals say humans are just another part of nature, on the other they say we're not.

Come on, make up your mind! If you believe all life comes through evoluution you have to believe we are just another part of nature! So you would ban humans from their rightful place on the land along with all their fellow animals?

No, it has to do with stupid motherfuckers thinking that they don't have to obey the laws of our nation.

If Obama hacks can get away with breaking laws without being punished, then so should we!

The federal abuse of Cliven Bundy had an unexpected turn as states started evaluating just how much of state land the federal government controls and plans to take their states back.

Western lawmakers gather in Utah to talk federal land takeover | The Salt Lake Tribune

It’s time for Western states to take control of federal lands within their borders, lawmakers and county commissioners from Western states said at Utah’s Capitol on Friday.

More than 50 political leaders from nine states convened for the first time to talk about their joint goal: wresting control of oil-, timber -and mineral-rich lands away from the feds.

Now that states are looking into federal management, they are seeing that the federal government doesn't do a very good job of it.
They can't take it back since they never had it. This land belonged to the federal government before these states join the union. This is acknowledged in the states constitution. In fact Nevada specific stated, "Nevada agreed to "forever disclaim all right and title to the unappropriated public lands"

Unless the Congress just wants to give the land to these states, which seems very unlikely, this will be just so much political posturing.

Lot of cons sticking up for a guy that says he doesn't recognize the federal government. The same ones that would like the see the country go to hell so it could make Obama look like a failure.
