Church Attendance Declining

Has there?

Do you have something readily available to support that? I find that hard to believe considering that we recently had a record turnout in voters.
It is an easy enough search. You might also check on people who trust the news media.

I'm not seeing anything that agrees with you. I came across this.

Trusting the media is different than news consumption. I think people are distrustful of many news sources but still consuming a lot of it.

The thing that bugged me more than anything was the "forgiven" moral escape hatch. Be a horrible person > ask the lord for forgiveness > clear conscience > repeat. So many Christians seem to have been led astray by this idea that it's enough to be forgiven by God without any attempt at directly repenting your sins to the people you have wronged.

“U.S. church membership has fallen below 50% for the first time, according to a Gallup poll published Monday, continuing a decades-long decline in membership driven by growing numbers of Americans who express no religious affiliation.”

People who attend church has steadily declined as the number of non-religious has continued to grow.

Christians can’t be happy with this. Our country is rapidly becoming more secular.

What do Christians think about this? Why is your religion dwindling away?
As an Atheist, I don't care about church attendance. However, not to worry. Eighty-five percent (85%) of people that live south of our border, are hardcore Catholics and thus, about the same figure is what is flowing over our southern border, illegally. Initially, they will take what our government gives them in handouts, but as they are industrious, hardworking people, they will eventually abandon the Democrats in favor of the Republican. The main reason this will happen, is that people coming in from Venezuela, Argentina, Honduras and Nicaragua, are fleeing Socialist nations that have demonstrated that socialism just doesn't work.
Also, we're already living on credit from other nations, getting deeper in debt and can't pay them off, no one will give us further credit, so financially, this nation will go belly-up and the next step will be what nations like Venezuela do to solve their lack of money......they simply print more currency, which has no real value and that's why people end up carrying large packs or wheelbarrows of currency to just pay for nominal items. End result....people starve, pets are eaten and millions die.

I'm not religious... I don't go to Church... But... When the state says you can't go to church ... I would expect some people to stop going.

In the longer term, compared to when I was a kid, the church was more of a focus point in the whole community.

My old man would drink at the K of C and other church related function. It was a gathering place for my grandparents to hang out with the other oldtimers from the old country.

Nowadays, people drink a lot more in public bars, a lot of clubs including church based ones have folded up. The old timers are all deceased.

Of course, with us kids, we went there 5 days a week for school to get taught by nuns. Nowadays, the church isn't nearly as big in education.

Times change.

LoL I've had to address this three times now.

The article clearly indicates that this trend has been happening for a while now. Since long before covid.

Eh... CNN is pulling 1.1 million views recently. Not sure why that chart says... oh... I have no idea when that chart was made. No links. o.0

I don't doubt that. But... Frankly I just wanted to note that bullshit that you can't go to church, but you can go and try to burn shit down get arrested, and released, to do it the next day.

I’m not disputing that CNN has lost viewers since Trump has left office a few months ago.

Seems like you’re just being cynical of the covid lockdown restrictions and weak punishments for rioting.

I’m not sure how that’s related to the topic. Is it related?

Sure... Good habits are just as hard to break as bad ones. For example... I watched a whole lot less football this year than I normally do. That could be a trend.

Church is the same way. It's a habit you do... The government, blame whoever you want, has broken that habit. Some won't go back. *shrugs*

Edit: Oh.. Rioting is the same way. I just assume it didn't become a habit, but... Some political people disagree.

Still not seeing the relevance...

Ok... I guess there is none.

It's not just CNN. That was just the title of the article.

I imagine a lot of places have lost viewers in the last 3 months. Politics is much more boring now.
Another thing to consider: Church attendance is not the only thing falling off. There has been a clear drop of people watching the News.

Has there?

The decline in church attendance has been happening over decades.

The decline in news consumption, to my knowledge, has been happening in the last 3 months since president moron left office. The record number of voters occurred before the drop-off.

I was speaking more in terms of long-term trends.
