Colorado Gov. Jared Polis invites Disney to his state

Boy if Disney World ever left Florida, Orlando would turn into a real shithole.

wait..
Disney isn't moving shit....and Colorado isn't gaining shit
Obviously not happening, but just to entertain the hypothetical, even if Disney did leave, Orlando would still have a bunch of theme parks and touristy shit including Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, Sea World, Volcano Bay, etc.

A lot of people moved into the Orlando area for the jobs.

They can just pack up and move back where they came from. Good riddance!

Before Disney Orlando did fine with Martin Marietta, the Cape and being an agriculture center. Several insurance companies had their headquarters there. All Disney did was fuck things up.
Jeez, how old ARE you? ? ?
I remember when Florida was just a swamp. It was so much better! Maybe you should be the one that moves
Not from Disney's standpoint. YOU might like it, but that's not their criteria.
Agreed. I was only speaking for myself. Excpet for Tennessee. I'd argue the climate there is better now, particularly with the increase in storms hitting Florida. I'd imagine they would move somewhere like that if they were doing it all over in 2022.
.

You underestimate what the revocation of their special tax district is going to cost Disney on an annual basis. Most estimates put the costs upwards of $200 million annually.

can you give a few links to this?

Thanks

Also, if they raise the ticket price just to Disney World by 5 bucks they have already made more than than that will cost them. And they lose a billion dollars in bond debt, they lose the cost of upkeep on 175 miles of road and the cost of running the water treatment plant and the cost of fire protection and more.

No no Disney will hire a gazzilon trucks and take it all to Colorado....

This is how progtards think. Literally

The culture war over Disney reached new heights Thursday, as Democratic Colorado Gov. Jared Polis and Florida Gov. Ron De Santis traded barbs over the company's future in the Sunshine State.
Earlier this week, Polis voiced disagreement over DeSantis' support for legislation that would strip Disney of its special status as a self-governing area, which was ultimately passed Thursday by the Florida House.
Polis then accused DeSantis of using socialist tactics to control the private sector, and invited Disney to ditch the Sunshine State and move to Colorado.

Comment:
Florida Parents do not want their children to be groomed by gay men and transsexual men in their public schools.
Polis and the Democrat Party care more about transsexual men than they do about children and female athletes.
Colorado voters need to wake up.

I'd prefer Colorado. :)
Florida is hot and swampy, and has more than its share of hurricanes. Tennessee would be ideal though. 👍
I live in Colo. God I hate those sanctimonious wannabe California women who can't decide whether they're Karens, vaccine deniers, libertarians, or liberals ..... (-:

If you say so. If the Imperialist in Fla want to cut their nose off to spite their face, doesn't effect me at all. I never spend money in Fla if I can help it.

Seems to me the oligarchs at Disney were trying to impose their will on the citizens of Florida.

Looks like it is YOU who are supporting the imperialist swine.

I was born in Florida in 1947. Fifth generation Floridian.

Prior to Disney Central Florida was a nice quiet place to live. Mainly agriculture but some aerospace.

By the way, the Green Swamp (a few miles from Disney) is a good thing. It is the main aquifer recharge shed for quite a bit of the Floridan Aquifer. Most people in Florida get their drinking water from the Floridan Aquifer.

Disney really fucked up the aquifer recharge in Orange and Osceola Counties. They got away with it because Reedy Creek was its own water management district. Now they will have to adhere to the rules of SFWMD and things won't be so sweet for them.

That would be the Grand Imperialist Rodent,

if it were, but no, they are committed to working within the system to fight the Neo-GOP's use of the well known Nazi demonization tactic.

You underestimate what the revocation of their special tax district is going to cost Disney on an annual basis. Most estimates put the costs upwards of $200 million annually. That is a significant amount of money that is going to have an effect on their quarterly earnings unless they cut an equal amount from expenditures elsewhere without it negatively affecting revenue. So the harm to their stock value is not limited to the effects of the negative PR.

Otherwise, I agree with you. The hit to their bottom line from this would not justify the massive cost to relocate outside of Florida

I'm not saying it isn't going to cost them. I'm not even saying it isn't going to cost them money that would be incredibly significant to most companies. I'm saying Disney makes enough money to absorb that cost and adjust around it, just as they do with their other resort properties. Disneyland, for example, does not have a special governing district of its own in California, and they accept the costs as the normal part of doing business that they are. They deal with it and work around it, so it's certainly not as though they don't already know how to do so if they have to.

Again, if Florida had decided to do this for some other reason, absent all the media brouhaha about it, they'd have fought it through the legal channels, but then if and when they lost, they'd have sucked it up, adjusted, and moved on. The shareholders wouldn't have liked it, but they'd have accepted it as the normal course of doing business and waited for the company to recoup in whatever way they were going to. In this case, Disney deliberately brought this, along with a lot of public backlash, on themselves for no discernible business reason. The shareholders know that, and that makes a big difference.

The contrived leftist talking point of "You just invented this culture war, it didn't exist before!" is a ruse to fool the obedient, gullible leftist base into believing that nothing their masters do can ever be wrong, it's only wrong to dare to oppose it. It is far more than just an embarrassment to America; it's shameful to the entire human race.

By lying about what the law actually does.

In other words.

DUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Now go post again about how conservatives are fleeing California. Ya moron.

Yes, it's completely comparable for individual people to decide to move to another state and a giant corporation to move a billion-dollar business heavily dependent on physical infrastructure to another state . . . if one is Fart Fun and therefore brain-damaged.

The contrived leftist talking point of "You just invented this culture war, it didn't exist before!"
If you going to lie, don't suck so badly at it. Given how many years you've been trained to lie, you should be better at it.

Remember, you can only gaslight your fellow fascist traitors. Honest people know you're lying for the glory of fascism, and because you get a sick pervy tingle when you serve the Lord of Lies.

And if Disney leaves and takes those 77,000 jobs, and billion dollar tax base with them, that's a big win for Florida in your estimation skippy?
