Constitutional Right To Peacefully Assemble Latest 'Victim' of Govt COVID-19 Crackdown

My grandson and I both have compromised immune systems. I have an agenda I will admit as I have acute liver failure and my grandson has leukemia. I asked my doctor what could be done if I caught the COVID-19 virus Do you know what my doctor told me would be best? She said, "Die quickly. That will free up a respirator".
A. Sounds like you need a new doctor. Fuck that bitch.

B. You are responsible for your own protection. Not me. Public places are not for you right now. You are free to go into public places, but at your own risk.

.

And...freedom. What I am hearing is SOME people’s freedom is more important than other people’s. So that SOME people can freely exercise their freedom...people who are more vulnerable, should restrict theirs. Kind of hypocritical.
People who are more vulnerable may CHOOSE to restrict their own freedom.

Surely, you see the difference, right?

I thought you and I had common beliefs. I thought you were a real liberal.

.
No.

They have no choice if they want to live. Their freedom means less to you than yours.
If you can't swim, don't go in the water..... but you don't get to demand that I stay out of it.

If you going swimming caused me to drown, you are damn sure I am going to support closing the pool.
That attitude is a good way to get people to want to drown you.

I take your continued attempts to deflect from the question that you have surrendered the discussion as your loss.
What discussion?
You have yet to offer anything, except whiny bullshit.

Go away, grow up, and come back and try again later.

Grow up? I was probably an adult before you were a hard place in your daddy's pants.

Have a nice day!
It's a hard world; let the weak fall.

One Arrested as Raleigh, NC Police Suspend First Amendment; Declare Coronavirus Lockdown Protest “Non-Essential Activity”

'Raleigh, North Carolina police suspended the First Amendment Tuesday, dispersing a protest against the COVID-19 Chinese coronavirus lockdown and arresting one protester for failing to disperse. The police issued a statement declaring “Protesting is a non-essential activity” that was in violation of an executive order by Governor Roy Cooper (D) prohibiting mass gatherings.'

What is considered 'non-essential activity' by the government is a right protected by the Constitution from a government who seeks to quell all peaceful assemblies...

Add this one to the list of Constitutional Rights - like exercise of religious freedom - being trampled in the name of 'preventing the spread of CPVID-19'.

Here's what y'all infectophiles keep missing.

-- What's the adverb before the word "assemble"? "Peaceably".

Therefore an assembly of, say, a lynch mob would be an assembly but not a "peaceable" one, agreed?

Whelp, same for a congregation that huddles together despite a known contagious infection going around. One uses a rope, the other uses a virus.

Think about it.

I thought about it...and it's stupid.

I did not ignore the word 'peacefully' at all.

You are trying to compare a racist lynch mob with Americans being forced to stay at home, denied their rights to exercise their freedom of religion, and denied their right to peacefully assemble.

The BASIS of a hypothetical lynch mob (and I didn't say it was racial, did I) is irrelevant here just as the basis of the hypothetical congregation, but apparently you're saying that a lynch mob has the right to peaceably assemble then? Because in either case the outcome is death. The main difference is in the latter it's potentially many more deaths and they're indiscriminate, whereas the lynch mob has its specific target.

So the question we're STILL down to is, whether an assembly that results in death as a direct consequence of that assembly, can be called "peaceable".

Total false equivalency.

1. A lynch mob has death as it's objective. That is not the case here.
2. A lynch mob will result in death. That is not necessarily the case here.
3. Potentially is not a reason to prevent them from assembling.
4. The fact that you don't see that them telling you can't hold a family reunion is extremely scary......is well, scary.

Intellectual sloth. My favourite thing.

Read post 11 and try to refute it.
I don't have to "try."

It was already addressed by Thoreau and James Corbett in Post #3, before you made a fool and a petty tyrant of yourself.

If you had bothered to watch the video, you could have more specifically answered the question HE posed to you at the end of his video now, couldn't ya?

I am beginning to think you aren't an American at all, but an agent of the Crown, this is becoming clear.

I wasn't responding to your post downthread; I responded directly to the OP. Which isn't even yours.

THAT''S KIND OF WHY IT'S QUOTED IN THE POST, isn't it. DAMN, fulla yourself much??

Having now burned eight minutes and fourteen seconds I'll never get back of your hair-on-fire tinfoil conspiracy cry-the-blooze-and-hey-looka-me Chicken Little egomaniac video it's irrelevant to my point.

And it's bullshitting a strawman too --- nobody is "locked in their own homes", so even if it were relevant to the point it would be fallaciously tilted. "Corbett Report", holy shit what an ego.

I give you St. Louis and Philadelphia in the 1918 pandemic. One isolated, one didn't. And the latter paid a hefty price. One had more personal freedoms, and also WAY more dead. Essplain to the class what personal freedoms are enjoyed by the dead.

People die in the name of freedom all the time.

How is that lost on you ?

However, you make a specious assumption, in that, WE, the American people, by exercising our freedoms, are a threat to other folks life and liberty.

A Comparison of Lockdown UK With Non-Lockdown Sweden

"(Note: In terms of timelines, Sweden reported its first Covid-cases eight days before the UK (15 on 3rd March, compared with 77 on 11th March in the UK), whilst the UK recorded its first deaths two days before Sweden (10 on 14th March, compared with 4 for Sweden on 16th March)).
Looking at these charts, particularly charts 2 and 4 which are a like-for-like comparison, as at 11th April, I think we can say the following:

  1. In terms of reported cases, the data shows no evidence that the UK lockdown approach has been any more successful than the Swedish approach. In fact, per million people, Sweden has had fewer cases than the UK.
  2. In terms of recorded deaths, again there is no evidence so far that the UK lockdown approach has been any more successful than the Swedish approach. In fact, per million people, Sweden has had fewer deaths than the UK.

As I say, the situation may well change as the days and weeks go by, but so far, according to the official data from both countries, the approach taken in the UK of keeping people in their homes and closing down huge swathes of the economy, has not had any more positive effect on reducing Covid-19 cases or deaths than the Swedish approach. Yet it will put millions out of work, it will destroy thousands of businesses, it will lead to a massive deterioration of mental health, it will lead to an increase in suicides, it will lead to old people dying on their own without their carers, and it already has led to an increase of state power on a scale never seen before. There is that!"

Sweden has the 11th highest death rate from coronavirus in the world. No, following Sweden is not the way to go. That would get thousands and potentially, millions of Americans killed.

Yep, there have been foolish Americans in the past that decided what their rights should be(without considering the rights of most other Americans), and thankfully, the U.S. government defeated them every TIME! Thank God the Union won the Civil war and the government crushed the outlaws at Waco Texas and captured Timothy McVeigh and is ready to take down any other anti-American militia out there.

Because this rationale completely ignores the fact that attendees who acquire it at the gathering will spread it to others who did not attend this gathering.
How will that happen if everyone else is social distancing and taking other precautions?

You are responsible for your own safety ONLY.

.

That's ridiculous. The morons who are insisting on their "freedom" are doing so out of hatred for their neighbors. They need to start showing some patriotism and respect for others. There is no such thing as being responsible only for your own safety. The entire field of tort law is based on the concept that the risk posed to others was foreseeable.

BTW: the other day when I was shopping and picking up something in the refrigerated section (which has glass doors) a white male approximately 45-55 walked straight up to me and reached around me, forcing me to step aside six feet, and then proceeded to do a ten-minute inspection of every package; no mask, no gloves, handled many items before finally picking one, this me standing there all the while. He forced me back. There should be a way to punish this sort of scum.

Incidentally, I identified this perp by race, sex, and approximate age due to the current idiotic practice on this board of identifying wrongdoers according to these characteristics so that the misconduct can be properly "credited" to the correct demographic group(s).

Yeah, thank God the govt, using armored military-grade vehicles and weapons, needlessly stormed a compound filled with women and children, set the place on fire, and burned many of them alive...instead of backing off an just arresting the guy in the nearby town some time later.

good grief

The BASIS of a hypothetical lynch mob (and I didn't say it was racial, did I) is irrelevant here just as the basis of the hypothetical congregation, but apparently you're saying that a lynch mob has the right to peaceably assemble then? Because in either case the outcome is death. The main difference is in the latter it's potentially many more deaths and they're indiscriminate, whereas the lynch mob has its specific target.

4. The fact that you don't see that them telling you can't hold a family reunion is extremely scary......is well, scary.

Again, this is the same running away from the point, trying to bring in a red herring of "objectives". "Objectives" are STILL irrelevant, they started out irrelevant, and they will continue to be irrelevant forevermore. The point here is RESULTS, not "objectives". Obviously the "objective" of a choir in Washington was to share some music, not to kill anybody, but the RESULT of doing that was to spawn a whole spate of new infections and deaths. There's just no way around that. That assembly led to infections and deaths, and potentially to OTHER infections and deaths from the time those carrying the virus infected OTHERS before they started showing their own symptoms.

You can sit on this board and act all stupid about this but we KNOW what's going on. This just in --- a virus DOESN'T GIVE A FUCK about whether an assembly is "peaceable" or not. All it needs is HUMANS in close proximity, which is what an assembly is. Quit hiding behind this badge of stupidity.

***NOBODY*** claimed "exercising our freedoms is a threat". ***EVERYBODY*** has told you repeatedly that SPREADING INFECTION is the threat. You deliberately misrepresented the premise, which is a strawman, and as such a fallacy, and as such dismissed, and BLATANTLY dishonest.

Therefore an assembly of, say, a lynch mob would be an assembly but not a "peaceful" one, agreed?

Whelp, same for a congregation that huddles together despite a known contagious infection going around. One uses a rope, the other uses a virus.

Think about it.

I thought about it...and it's stupid.

I did not ignore the word 'peacefully' at all.

You are trying to compare a racist lynch mob with Americans being forced to stay at home, denied their rights to exercise their freedom of religion, and denied their right to peacefully assemble.
Yeah, I am pretty sure Pogo knows what a false equivalency is, he is just being retarded to push a political agenda.

Actually those Philadelphians died in the name of the Business of War. It was a "patriotism" parade to sell war bonds (and thereby FUND war) that all the health experts advised cancelling specifically for the reason that came to pass, mass infections and massive deaths. In other words gross irresponsibility infected a million people and killed tens of thousands, needlessly.

>> Within 72 hours of the parade, every bed in Philadelphia’s 31 hospitals was filled. In the week ending October 5, some 2,600 people in Philadelphia had died from the flu or its complications. A week later, that number rose to more than 4,500. With many of the city’s health professionals pressed into military service, Philadelphia was unprepared for this deluge of death.
Attempting to slow the carnage, city leaders essentially closed down Philadelphia. On October 3, officials shuttered most public spaces – including schools, churches, theaters and pool halls. But the calamity was relentless. Understaffed hospitals were crippled. Morgues and undertakers could not keep pace with demand. Grieving families had to bury their own dead. Casket prices skyrocketed. The phrase “bodies stacked like cordwood” became a common refrain. And news reports and rumors soon spread that the Germans –the “Huns” – had unleashed the epidemic. << -- Smithsonian

-- Any of that sound familiar? Want to ask those tens of thousands of victims and their families how "free" they feel?

We'll throw a pity party for your feewings about how you didn't get to sacrifice everybody else's life just so you could make inane and irrelevant points on a message board.

Take cars off the road.
