The withdrawal from Afghanistan was certain to be ignominious and disastrous, as with this critical matter and many others (e.g., our southern border), the Biden team decided to do THE OPPOSITE OF what Trump had planned, in spite. They did it quickly and early, so that the American people would hopefully forget it by the time of the next Presidential election, and they could craft a false narrative that made it seem, not only innocent on their part, but TRUMP'S FAULT!

The linked article details the falsity of the whole KH Narrative, a tale that every thinking voter should know.

Trump lied that Biden left $85 billion of military equipment in Afghanistan. $85 billion was the total expenditure over a 20 year period equipping and training the Afghan forces.

So rather then say something against the topic of the thread you felt compelled to go with this Tump lied about the amount left in Afghanistan. While not even giving the correct amount that was left. Congratulations

I thought Biden postponed the withdrawal from Trump's deal so it actually was delayed a few months?

Actually it was delayed. But it was very obvious that the Taliban were not complying with the agreement that had been set forth. In which case a new agreement should have been negotiated or the old one completely abandoned. Instead Biden continued to believe that the Taliban would allow the peaceful removal of our troops when they had shown that they could not be trusted

So you think Biden should have spent billions to redeploy the troops Trump had just brought back home?

You should post the correct amount left behind in September of 2020.

No that is no where near what I stated. Having trouble with English?
Once again since they had proven that they could not be trusted to uphold the bargain as it was agreed upon the bargain should have been redone and we should not have relied on them to keep their word.
I will simplify it for you. If your neighbor is parking on your lawn and claims that it is his property. You then agree that you will get a survey done to determine whose property it is and he agees to stop parking on it until the survey is complete. Yet he continues to do it would you consider him to be trustworthy?

They weren't complying with the bargain the entire time Trump was bringing troops home.

How do propose Biden was to strike a new bargain? We only had 2500 troops there and Trump had already released 5000 terrorists as part of the original deal.

We had no leverage to re bargain after Trump left office.

No. Of course not but if you think that has any correlation with Trump's withdrawal deal then you need help.

5000 terrorists were released. Trump literally released two times as many terrorists as troops he left behind.

And you seem to think that a fast pullout leaving equipment and munitions behind and getting our troops killed was a better plan? I would say you need more help

Trump signed the surrender papers.

Biden botched the withdrawal.

See...you can criticize someone you voted for and the world doesn’t end..... you guys who voted for the blob should try it sometime.

Can star with the fact they continued to attack afghan forces and brought in Al-Qaeda members into their leadership.

They did not agree to stop attacking afghan forces, just NATO forces.

The Taliban and AQ hate each other, you are mistaken.

When is the best time to take out extra equipment...when you go from 13,000 troops to 2500 or when you go from 2500 to zero?

Actually they did agree stop attacking certain areas that were controlled by Afghan forces. They did not, they attacked those areas.

That was one of only two possible plans.

2500 troops isn't near enough to ensure the safe evacuation of thousands of people and billions of dollars of equipment from an entire hostile country.

It's logistically impossible. The only other option was spend billions to redeploy the troops just brought home to facilitate a proper withdrawal.

...and nobody got fired. No generals, no DoD public servants, nobody.

Does America understand the point here? No accountability for disasters.

You seem to think that I applaud either Trump or Biden. Since the Taliban were not following through with their part of the bargain we should have scrapped it and started over. In fact we should never have been involved in the first place but that is not part of this discussion
