It always shocks me when Republicans defend W's spending. I don't think there's any doubt that W had zero respect that people earned the money that flowed through his hands like water. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and made his living on his daddy's connections. Off the top of my head, please feel free to add to it.

Domestic:
- Medicare part D
- No child gets ahead
- Never vetoing a spending bill
- The "transportation" Christmas tree and bridge to nowhere
- Tarp, the mother ship
- Proposing budgets every year that not even counting wars or Tarp grew the federal behemoth we have in DC by every real measure BEFORE starting to negotiate with the Democrats
- Vastly increasing Social Security and Medicare taxes
- Giving amnesty and government services to countless more illegal aliens

On Defense, even if you think the war on terror should be fought, we spent trillions on wars in the middle east absorbing most of the cost ourselves while our supposed allies in the ME and Europe who were in far greater peril over the threats there stabbing us in the back

Even Rush and Hannity attacked W regularly for spending. W was worse than Gore would have been, if I had it to do over instead of Harry Browne I'd have voted for Gore. I'm not saying Gore's intent wouldn't have been as bad, but the Republican Congress would not have rolled over and given him his way. W was a horrible President, one of the worst in our history

Under Bush, events that totally ignorant LIPs like you forget that NO other President in history had to face in their terms!
1) Are you aware that a recession started under Clinton and became official 3/01 ended 11/01?

A Major $5 trillion market loss
2) Are you aware that the dot.com bust occurred and cost $5 trillion in losses?
According to the Los Angeles Times, when the dot-com bubble burst, it wiped out $5 trillion dollars in market value for tech companies. More than half of the Internet companies created since 1995 were gone by 2004 - and hundreds of thousands of skilled technology workers were out of jobs.

3)Obviously most of you are UNAWARE 9/11 cost 3,000 lives, $2 trillion in lost businesses, market values assets.
Jobs lost in New York owing to the attacks: 146,100 JUST in New York.
Year 2001: September 11 Terrorist Attacks
The 9/11 terrorist attacks were the events that helped shape other financial events of the decade. After that terrible day in September 2001, our economic climate was never to be the same again. It was only the third time in history that the New York Stock Exchange was shut down for a period of time. In this case, it was closed from September 10 - 17. Besides the tragic human loss of that day, the economic loss cannot even be estimated. Some estimate that there was over $60 billion in insurance losses alone. Airlines didn't fly for 3 days!
Approximately 18,000 small businesses were either displaced or destroyed in Lower Manhattan after the Twin Towers fell. There was a buildup in homeland security on all levels. 9/11 caused a catastrophic financial loss for the U.S.

The 2001 anthrax attacks in the United States, also known as Amerithrax from its Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) case name, occurred over the course of several weeks beginning on Tuesday, September 18, 2001, one week after the September 11 attacks. Letters containing anthrax spores were mailed to several news media offices and two DemocraticU.S. Senators, killing five people and infecting 17 others. According to the FBI, the ensuing investigation became "one of the largest and most complex in the history of law enforcement".[1]

4) $1 trillion in losses due to the WORST Hurricane SEASONS in history.
The worst, Katrina made landfall in Louisiana as a Category 3 in 2005. It took 1,836 lives and caused $81.2 billion in damages. It quickly became the biggest natural disaster in U.S. history, almost destroying New Orleans due to severe flooding.

Yes he did.

we spent trillions on wars in the middle east

Wrong! You should see the supplement packages passed over and above the normal military budget and you will see that those supplements were less than Obamacare.

W was worse than Gore would have been

Wrong Gore was a tax and spend far left drone. He has even admitted back at the time that he would have not sent troops to Afghanistan, but have gone to the UN and ask them to send a peacekeeping force there and he would have perused Bin Laden through the international court system. Do you think that would have been better?

I'm not saying Gore's intent wouldn't have been as bad, but the Republican Congress would not have rolled over and given him his way.

I do not think much would have changed other than we would still be recovering from a Gore recession..

W was a horrible President, one of the worst in our history

Yes he was, but pales in compares to Carter and Obama..

When I was drunk I never spent unwisely. Pretty sure the money fell out of my wallet or pockets due to holes, not me. ;)

Bush did in fact spend like a RINO. When he and Cheney suggested the Iraq war would only cost $74 billion and that Iraq would pay us back that was utterly absurd. The GOP congress was no better and they paid the price, the lying lowlife scum Democrats used the GOP spending as a talking point to re-take the House and Senate in 2006.

So you believe the federal government must deficit spend because of natural disasters, recessions, and wars. You believe this based on what?

We know the federal government is terribly corrupt, inefficient, and generally makes things worse rather than better.

Your argument is no different from that of the Left's, who excuse Obama's massive spending because it is required to fix the economic mess left by Bush.

If massive government spending worked, we would all be living in palaces by now.

Bush's inability to control the deficit and slow down liberal spending on bullshit programs is the reason republicans stopped bothering to vote 2006 and didn't come back till 2010.

Complain all you want about the war spending, it was 1 trillion over 10 years.

We've wasted 22 trillion over 40 years in the "war on poverty" and it remains the same as it was in 1965.

The war spending kept me employed and paid well.

The welfare keeps people poor and dependent.

Hopefully the GOP will avoid nominating a republicrat, and get someone in there who will roll back regressive democrook policies. It's the only way to fix the country.

Not "compromising", just kicking their parasitic asses.

Presidents don't spend, congress spends. put the blame where it belongs.

That doesn't work when:

- Many of those were W's own actual proposals

- He signed them

Actually that is incorrect!

He may have signed them, but he did not propose them as you suggest.

Medicare Part D was a compromise with the far left Kennedy as was No child left behind.

Also from 2007 to 2009 the far left controlled Congress.

When President Bush had been in office 1,889 days, he had signed 1,091 bills and vetoed zero.

2 terms, 12 vetos ...

spend baby spend.

Don't you just love how the far left drones will contradict themselves in one post..

7 years of Obama and he has only 4 veto's!

We spend far too much, yes, and have been doing so since Reagan.

when obama took office the national debt was around 10T, today it is 18T, by the time he leaves it will be over 20T. Obama will have added more to the debt than all previous presidents COMBINED.

Yes, we spend too much. But your hero is the worst in history at deficit spending. and , no, he did not inherit it from Bush. It occured on his watch, 10 T in debt belongs to obama.

thats because Reid never let any bills get voted on in the senate. There was nothing for obozo to veto because of his butt buddy Reid.
