President Obama called the deal an "historic understanding" that was "a long time coming."
Speaking in the White House Rose Garden, he said it "shuts down" Iran's path to a bomb using enriched uranium.
"This deal was not based on trust," the president said. "It was based on unprecedented verification."
If and when a final agreement is reached, he said, "It will make our country, our allies and our world safer."

Iran and six world powers Thursday agreed on "key parameters" for resolving a long-standing dispute over Iran's nuclear program, which has left the Islamic nation economically isolated.
"Today we have taken a decisive step. We have reached solutions on key parameters for a comprehensive future nuclear deal," said European Union Foreign Affairs Minister Federica Mogherini, in formally announcing the deal.
She said Iran would not produce weapons grade fuel and that international monitors will have enhanced access to Iran's nuclear facilities.
She also said that sanctions would be "terminated" but did not specify the timetable, which has been a key sticking point of the negotiations. Iran wants them lifted immediately, while the United States wants most of them in place until Iran follows through on terms of the deal.

As to the OP -
I'm not qualified to judge whether he should get the Nobel Peace Prize but he is a war hero who has worked his butt off to make our world safer, to keep us out of another endless war, save countless innocent lives and move us forward to the next step.
Is it DONE?
No..
And sadly, the Repub traitors have sabotaged the US efforts toward peace, probably beyond anything that is fix-able.
Both both he and our president have given it their best shot and they are to be commended for that - just as Ronnie (Blessed Be His Name) Ray-Gun was when he worked toward the same end.

We now have an agreement between key powers on how to proceed with Iran. If they comply, economic sanctions will be lifted and make their lives better.
If they don't comply.......sanctions return and then some
If it works, the threat of a nuclear Iran is gone. If it doesn't.......we go back to where we were before
Even Obama said. If and when a final agreement is reached, he said, "It will make our country, our allies and our world safer."
If and when an agreement is reached, which means an agreement has NOT been reached.

So ....do you like it or not?
Of course there are further negotiations to be done. If it plays out, it can help stabilize the region
Aren't you proud of our President?

History books are written about the wars we fought and the heroes involved, but has anyone written a history of the wars we didn't fight and the heroes involved in those periods of peace?
