Cinco de Mayo is not even popular in Mexico, only whites in America like that day, another day to get drunk.

For the 35 years I spent down at the office us whites loved the food the ladies of Mexican heritage brought in whenever Cinco de Mayo fell on a workday. The annual best salsa competition held during Hispanic Heritage Month was also a good day at work.

I can answer "yes" that one year White Christian Day did drive me nuts. It was a day I decided to play golf at a course in Tempe, AZ. We spent 15 to 20 minutes on the practice green waiting for our tee time and what got to me was the Irish music they had piped out to the patio.

St Patrick's Day isn't close to the popularity as Cinco de Mayo is around here. Both are celebrated at bars (heck, what's not?) but the big difference are the many folks of Hispanic heritage here and also the many Mexican restaurants that get in on the act. Heck, it is 5:30 in the late afternoon and just realized it is St Patty's Day. But then other than a beer with an occasional steak, I'm not a drinker.

I don't keep track of these things but as of 2015 the place where I live had, "the highest median income in the country, making it the top city for 'wallet wellness', according to a national financial-responsibility ranking of 150 U.S. cities."

Wrong again. In our neighborhood there is a decent representation of people originally from India. There's quite a few tech firms in the area and Intel's Ocotillo Campus is just 6 or 7 miles to the west. Very good paying jobs. Sunday mornings when I walk the dogs many gather at the neighborhood parks to play cricket mostly, but sometimes volleyball or soccer.

I like your style. I have to go 3 miles to a city park when I want to get in some archery. Fortunately our kids are all grown and for a good while have been self supporting. It affords us the opportunity to hire help with the maintenance. Best part of our neighborhood are things like the 5 year old down at the end of the street yelling hello to me and the wife and like yesterday when he brought over a couple of carrots he picked from their garden. Today it was a handful of peas.

With Brokeloser his attitude seemed that anyplace with Hispanics had to be living in the barrio.

Every ethnic group has had their turn at being "not white enough". In Canada it's English versus French. In the mid 1800's when thousand of poor Irish fled Ireland during the famine, no one had any use for the "Micks". Then it was the Italians. Not surprisingly, like poor people everywhere, there were gangs. The movie, Gangs of New York, was based on actual events.

All of the racist crap about destroying neighbourhoods, gangs, violence and drugs were said about every influx of refugees, or those fleeing war, disease or pestilence, has been said about every ethnic group which arrived in large numbers. Jews, Italians, Greeks, Indians/Pakistanis, Chinese, Japanese were interred, they were so dangerous. It needs to end.
