Egyptian (Muslim Brotherhood) Morsi to be overthrown?-Military Moves in to take over

Of course it will fall on deaf ears and blind eyes but consider what would have happened if we, like some here wanted, had sent troops into Egypt or sent arms in. How much more fierce the bloodshed would have been.

Just one of the many, many, many reasons why Obama was the superior choice in 2008 and again in 2012.

Obama wants to send arms to Syria. What's the difference ?

Chemical weapons I suppose. I don't think he should do that, either.

The US has continued to provide aid to the Egyptian military which ousted the Morsi.

I wish people would learn the proper terms when they post political topics. This is not a military coup, it is either a guardian or a democratic one. Military coups are led by the military, and generally oppose the popular will for self government by imposing order on the population from above. What happened here is that the military stepped in and aided a popular uprising and facilitated one part of the existing government to throw out another part.

So, according to the Article in Post #2, the President has cautioned all three sides... Morsi, the protestors, and the Army, to come to a peaceful settlement, otherwise face a re-evaluation of US aid to Egypt...

Why... in the name of God and Little Green Onions... would we WANT to keep proxy Muslim Brotherhood players in the Presidential Palace in Egypt?

Partisanship aside... that just doesn't make any sense... at first glance, anyway.

Because Obama doesn't know what else to do, he really is in over his head.

Reality. Morsi won the election. Which means he has a lot of support.

Better him than a guy who doesn't respect elections or want to maintain good relations with the west.

Be careful what you wish for, it might come true.

Which explains why there are more people protesting against Morsi than protested against Mubarek.

Want to say something else to demonstrate to the entire world what an idiot you are?

No. This just proved how much of a failure at foreign policy Obama was/is.

Nice try though. Superior choice my ass.

Superior in every way, actually. We'd still be in Iraq, probably pouring more troops into Afghanistan; who knows about Bin Laden--whether he'd still be with us or not.

We're watching this on TV...not wondering if our brothers or sisters are in the thick of it.

A+ For Mr. Obama.

Yup, Obama should have backed Mubarak just like we backed the Shah in Iran. Remember how well that worked out for us?

Quiet!

You're disturbing his sleepwalk through history.

MORSI OUSTED: Military Installs
Chief Justice to Replace President

Protesters erupt in cheers as Egyptian military commander announces President Morsi is no longer in control of Egypt and the country's constitution has been suspended, as Morsi condemns military measures as a 'full coup.'

Egypt's top military commander says the army is now in full control of the country and President Mohammed Morsi has been replaced by the chief justice of the constitutional court as the interim head of state.

He made the announcements in a Wednesday night speech -- the latest twist in an all-out power struggle inside Egypt that Morsi and his national security adviser are describing as a military coup.

Gen. Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi said the country's constitution has been temporarily suspended and Morsi has failed to meet the demands of Egypt's people. Adli Mansour will be the new interim leader.

Fireworks and cheers erupted from the millions gathered in Tahrir Square after the announcement was made.

I was reading about this last night and this morning. Morsi refused to give up what he wanted to keep...him and his Brotherhood. Hmm. Not looking so good for radical islamists, is it?

Not sure the Eygptian military is willing to accept democracy.
It can be messy.
But so are military coups. This one may be a done deal.

I'm not a big fan of overuling the ballot box this way.
Ditto, UNLESS the Executive throws-out the Constitution, crams a new one down The People's throats within a couple of weeks, appoints a lot of his Religious Club Cronies to positions of power, and begins to set the stage to REMAIN in power rather than bother fussing with any FURTHER messy elections...

Under such circumstances, intervention by the Army, as Guardian of the State, probably does more good than harm... at least it gives them a CHANCE for a democratic future...
