My youngest brother couldn't shake his coke addiction. One night he and his addicted girlfriend just drove up to Wisconsin, did a couple lines, and ran a piece of garden hose from the car exhaust to the window and killed themselves. That was back in the 80's.

I cursed him under my breath at his funeral, for being so stupid. But I really didn't understand what he had gone through until years later, I ended up with the same addiction.

The hell of it is, I did recreational drugs since 1967, but never touched anything like cocaine or heroin. Tripped on acid more times than I can remember, back in the 60's and 70's. Smoked pot occasionally up until 2005, when I was first turned on to crack cocaine. I never did that or any other hard drugs until I was 55 years old, and ended up losing everything in two years.

Thankfully by the grace of God and our Lord Jesus Christ, I've been completely straight for the last 16 years. Not so much as a single whiff of pot. I now have a wonderful wife, a three bedroom, two bath, two car garage on 100 acres of wooded land, and am not about to risk losing again.
