Expanded background checks fails in Senate

He's making the point that IF there were a loophole that allowed kids to get alcohol without breaking the law (like buying it from a 3rd party for instance), then what good would the law be?

There is no loophole that lawfully allows prohibited persons: felons, drug users or adjudicated mental to buy a gun.

Of course there is. That's the whole point of expanding background checks to encompass all sales instead of just the sales made by federally licensed gun dealers.

that was not the bill that was voted on today

many transfers would not be subject to a background check

The real bad guys will go to the black market ;) The same market that sells drugs, etc.

there can be no other explanation.

Given that, WHY DO YOU WANT THEM TO GET THE GUNS?

There is zero focus on increasing penalty or accountability of the unlawful.

And.

Total focus on the law abiding.

Switch that around and specifically and clearly protect my rights as law abiding.

And you might get somewhere.

Kids already get around the law.
For every 100,000 Americans under the age of 21, 1.4 people were killed in drunk driving fatalities in 2011. The rate of under 21 drunk driving fatalities per 100,000 population has declined 45% over the past decade. (Source: NHTSA/FARS and US Census Bureau, 2013)

Despite declines in the number of young people involved in drunk driving fatalities, on average, more than 3 people under the age of 21 die each day in alcohol-impaired driving crashes. (Source: NHTSA/FARS, 2013)

I think you chose the wrong example wouldn't you agree?

So if we prohibited stores from asking for proof when people buy alcohol, you think those numbers would get better?

That's the most retarded thing I've heard on this board this year.

stores(ffls) have to ask for proof they do a background check already

So no loopholes exist? lol.

except in the case of fast n furious

some of the purchasers of firearms are criminals which ATF waived through

to purchase the firearms

As far as I know, that is not the case at all.

Do you have an example of a sale directly to a person with a criminal record that was "waived through" by the ATF?

You didn't answer the question.

WHY DO YOU WANT THE CRIMINALS AND CRAZY PEOPLE TO GET GUNS?

So I am clear on this; 90% of Americans wanted Gun Control but the Senate did not vote for it = Bad. Californians voted against Gay Marriage, but it was stuck down and that = Good.

Something about the majority didn't want interracial marriage blah blah blah, majority is wrong, except when their right...right?

Sheesh.

This is not a constitutional issue. Background checks are not unconstitutional. They never have been.

What loophole to kids use to get alchol that is not illegal already and thus not a hole de loop ?

He's making the point that IF there were a loophole that allowed kids to get alcohol without breaking the law (like buying it from a 3rd party for instance), then what good would the law be?

they would still be breaking the law

it is illegal for underage persons to buy or have alcohol

just as it is illegal for felons to buy or have firearms

Have you ever heard of Crime Prevention?

Bullshit.

Obama's people told FFL dealers to sell guns that they knew were in violation of the law.

Obama and his people are guilty of being responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people on both sides of the order.

Specifically, HOW did they know that the selling to said buyers was in violation of the law?

Had the straw buyers been convicted in the past?

And, by the same token, by willfully blocking this legislation, Republicans have done the EXACT SAME THING that you are accusing the Obama's people of.

Given the chance to stop it, you have intentionally allowed people to sell weapons to people who are criminals, without fear of reprisal.

It's the EXACT SAME THING.

exactly

no firearms dealers (stores) can sell a firearm

without doing a background check

and filling out the proper paperwork

the only exemption to that was

operation fast n furious

when ATF stepped in and told certain dealers

to allow the sales to go through

which resulted in thousands of firearms

to fall into criminal hands

to date

at least 2 Americans

and over three hundred Mexican citizens

are dead because of this program

Both of who are already illegal persons to own, buy, possess, sell to or reside in the same domicile as one by Federal law.

It's already illegal for people under 21 to buy alcohol. Would it make sense to have loopholes in that law that kids can use to get around it?

well it is good to know

that there is no under age consumption of alcohol happening

Every law gets broken. That is not an argument for not having any laws,

except maybe if a cartoon character like you is making the argument.

Why have laws against child molesting if people are going to molest children anyway?

Are you for child molesting?

psst.....they already do.
:eusa_shhh:
What law would prevent it?

Violation of HPPA law?

Why are you asking such an idiotic question?? No one wants criminals to get guns.. We also don't more infringements on our rights that Obama and the Democrats keep pushing for,

They don't enforce the laws already on the books, so why keep passing laws that won't get enforced either?

No dumb ass your insinuation is retarded.
Just because kids under 21 drink and drive you don't create new laws to prevent it, you keep enforcing the existing laws to prevent more from doing it. Which is the way it should be.
