Before he made that statement, he was saying that mask wearing was more of a "set an example" statement rather than one backed by science.

my mother was a nurse for almost 50 years. She says those masks become pretty much useless in very short order. Unless you are scrubbed in for surgery, and you don't put your bare hands on anything, those masks will be nothing but filthy germ traps, and do nothing to stop exposure of anyone.

The more problematic issue, and probably the goal of the mask-wearing Nazis, is that people who have claustrophobia and anxiety disorders typically have those conditions heightened by extended mask wearing sessions (more than a few minutes).

The entire campaign from the beginning of this year until now has been an effort to heighten the fear and anxiety of as many Americans as possible, so they can win in November. It is literally an act of war.
