Even though many who promote the mainstream view that the Earth is still on a warming trend, climate expert John Casey tells Newsmax TV that that warming trend is over, and the sun is the culprit, not carbon emissions.

"This is actually a pretty straightforward scientific proposition. The sun goes through natural cycles and currently a 206-year cycle of the sun has ended global warming and has begun to institute a new cold climate period by cutting back on that energy by which it warms the planet," Casey, president of the Space and Science Research Corp., told J.D. Hayworth and Miranda Khan on "America's Forum" on Thursday.
Story continues below video.

And he says that this cooling trend may be "an extreme cold era of global cooling."

Dr. Richard A. Muller, senior scientist of the Lawrence Berkley Laboratory, has said according to his measurements that solar activity does not affect climate change.

Casey said, "The UN dismissed the role of the sun in climate change decades ago by using the same kind of illogic. The illogic is if you use only one parameter for the sun, the TSI, or total solar irradiance, and you use that measurement, we find out that the TSI does in fact vary only a very small percentage of 1 percent.

"However, what we now know after decades of research is that the Earth, not only lives in a 'Goldie Locks' zone around the sun, but lives on a knife's edge within that 'Goldie Locks' zone," he explained.

"Even that very small fraction of 1 percent of energy output from the sun, makes the complete difference between a global warm period and a new little ice age," he said.

However, the climate expert said that "mankind's CO2 contribution does add to global warming or it used to when we had global warming."

"It, however, is such a very very small component, it's almost insignificant," Casey contends.

"In fact, in our global climate status report that our scientists put together every six months, we measure 24 major climate parameters and CO2 is not even one of them," he added.

Casey, who worked as a consultant for NASA and was a White House space program adviser, is the author of "Dark Winter: How the Sun is Causing a 30-Year Cold Spell," in which he argues that that the planet is undergoing a cooling trend.

You know.....everyone seems to think that we are a bit more chilly than we were last year....I guess there's a reason for that eh?

Give it time.... the lag time for effective temperature penetration is five to ten years...... the ice bergs and glaciers are still responding to the past....the key word here is past.

Five to ten years from now they will be growing like crystal mushrooms and probably to extents that rival the past ice age.

Better get your house insulated now dude.

A warmer climate, if it were to happen, would open up huge swaths of Siberia and Canada to increased food production.

More food...bad, less food...good.

Here is a story about a former Obama Administration official who says there is no consensus on Global Warming.

Former Obama Official Climate Change Not Settled Science

I suppose he will be attacked as a traitor.

The average person can't make himself an expert on this complex matter--he has to believe someone--and, since climatologists can't make any money, or get any federal grants--if they don't find problems---then they find problems---a process which makes them unreliable...and in fact unbelievable.

For this Ass Obama to say the matter is settled, is just another insult to the American people...while his cronies at places like Solendra are making millions off his lies.

LOL, 49 microns. Yea, that's a real reason to panic.

I guess that was too complicated for you to fully understand.

"Because of differences in the density and temperature of ice and sea water, the net effect is to increase sea level by 2.6% of this volume, equivalent to 49 microns per year spread across the global oceans."

Let's see if AssClappies can do basic math.

If the oceans rise 49 microns per year, how many years will it take to raise up one inch?

Poor AssClappies, can't do basic math. If he could he would realize how absurd the claim is.

The Pinheads in New York and the Loons in California...who are sure they are so much smarter than us rustics in the Heartland...ought to be able to figure out a way to get all that snow they got in New York (which was caused by Global Warming, according to Pinheads) out to California which is out of water (also caused by Global Warming according to Loons).

They are that smart!

They have figured out, a little late, that its not Global Warming...actually it is Climate Change...that keeps the federal grants coming and Obama Crony Capitalism going whether it gets hot or cold or wet or dry.

The Pinheads in New York are really really smart. The more they freeze their ass off, the more heating oil they burn, and they are smart enough to shift the blame for the Global Warming thus caused, I mean Climate Change---to the Oil Business.

They are actually smart enough to blame the Oil Business for Global Warming because they are using so much heating oil to keep from freezing their ass!

That's damn smart. Let them figure out how to get all their snow out to California which has used up all its water taking care of the smelt, and the Mexicans who have invaded in masse.
