If someone asked me 10 years, which party would try to marginalize the IRS and diminish it's ability to make sure taxes were paid I would have bet 10 to 1 odds that it would be Democrats.

My understanding is that most of these "new" IRS employees are to replace existing employees about to retire or people already gone. If they don't get them, odds are they will beusing automation to fill in the gaps which will be more invasive.

I have been audited a few times. Not that big a deal. I had to do amended returns one year because of it and pay a few hundred more bucks because I hadn't noticed that my bookkeeper classified some things incorrectly. The other times it was just additional documentation I left out by mistake....well technically I didn't think they needed some of the business reports that they apparently needed.

Been audited a few times myself. Mostly just asked for supporting documents and receipts. One year I had a small income of $1,500 from a random source they noticed I left off. Was pretty easy since I keep all my documentation and dont cheat.

You realize that 75% of taxpayers make less than $75,000 so having half the audits there means that you are 3X's more likely to be audited if you make over $75,000 than under. Statistics arent your thing I guess.
