The DNC would of course select a replacement. Article 2, Section 7 of the DNC Bylaws says that if there is a vacancy on the national ticket, a special meeting of the Committee ” shall be held on the call of the Chairperson,” where they would choose a new candidate. Such meetings make decisions based on a majority of those in attendance.

However, the bigger question would be how would it effect the election. If this was a normal election, the replacement wouldn't stand much of a chance. However, this is not a normal election. Both parties are running a near 100% negative campaign. Would Democrats fair better if they picked a different candidate?

Well, if her handlers would let her take a solid week off to recover she might be able to get back into the election run.

I personally am praying for her health to be restored to her.

If she just has pneumonia she should rest for at least 3 or 4 days and not schedule anything for a week.

A lot depends on her improvement over next few days and also how Trump responds. Typically Trump gives his opponent a good kick when their down but that might well backfire now.

Republicans have a lot invested in their anti-Hillary campaign. Regardless of who might be the replacement, Trump would still have to run a negative campaign in order to distract voters from his lack of qualifications.
