Legal marriage is not a right. You're a sucker to propaganda. No one has a right to make someone else concede to something. That is why criteria must be considered before the privilege is granted. That is why a license is issued.

It is not merely the reproduction of children which marriage provides to our survival. If that were all it was, then breeding would be a requirement before being able to file a joint tax return or collect Social Security survivor benefits.

Marriage brings stability to society. Married people are more productive, live longer, and have a lower incidence of STDs. There are many, many societal benefits besides offspring.

Do you believe people would stop having kids if they didn't get cash and prizes from the government? I smell some hypocrisy here. The Right is always claiming blacks and "the 47%" vote for Democrats "because gifts!"

That argument is completely ignorant of the concept of "consent". Minors cannot consent to sex.

I've seen the argument that if we let the gays marry we have to allow polygamy, too.

Straight men who have multiple partners are still straight men - its the same sexual orientation. Disallowing polygamy doesn't discriminate based on sexual orientation or sex - its a restriction on the number of people you may marry at once, without regard to sex or sexual orientation - so the argument is void.

EDIT - laws which restrict you from marrying siblings and cousins - again - that has nothing to do with orientation or gender.

Humans are going through puberty earlier and earlier, thus raising the age of consent isn't feasible. I do not approve, but accept reality, better age 16, than Courts clogged up with cases of 19 year olds charged with felonies for touching 16 year olds.
