Enough of this crap from Schumer and the never-trumpers......the President has full authority to deport anybody he deems living in the United States illegally and the USSC is about to confirm that. He's done his best to get the loser progs to do what's right for the country, but they won't, and never will. So that's it...enough is way more than enough. But wait, won't they just jump right back over the border? First a look at the proposed wall.
For comparison, the portion of the 700 miles of fencing built in 2007, under the Secure Fence Act of 2006 signed by President Bush, was estimated to cost about $2.8 million a mile, according to the Congressional Research Service in a 2009 report to Congress.
It was also constructed using mostly the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the National Guard. The report also found “fencing constructed in FY2008, using mostly private constructors, cost about $5.1 million a mile. Ouch...double. But it's there and very difficult to get past. But here's the rub....
“The Corps of Engineers also predicted that the 25-year, life-cycle cost of the fence [authorized in 2006] would range from $16.4 million to $70 million per mile depending on the amount of damage sustained by the fencing,” according to the 2009 Congressional Research Service report. The Rats would just let that fencing fall down and maybe be bold enough to bulldoze it....they're communists....they have no pride or principles.
So a fence is on an ongoing and fairly expensive proposition to maintain. I propose to shift money already appropriated to DHS to refurbish that fencing making it good for 25 years. The DHS budget is $41B....25% of that makes that fence impenetrable and gets us maybe another 50 miles of new fencing in hot spots. We then strictly enforce e-verify and not only fine but jail those who knowingly hire illegals. Next we inform the Mechican president that if he want's some form of NAFTA to remain....HE GUARDS THE BORDER ON HIS SIDE. Whatever means necessary, we don't need the details and he gets $1B a year in foreign aid and a nice guest-worker program with his workers GOING HOME after the crops are picked. The President can end the chain-migration and visa lottery crap with Executive Orders. This saves us billion$ and keeps our neighbor to the south happy as a fish taco.
