The big ado about this shooting, according to many, was that 'another black person who did not have a weapon was shot by a white cop'. This incident took place, I believe, during the entire outcry across the country about Baltimore, Ferguson, etc.
Many of the facts that the OP pointed out are true (all that I can tell, actually); however, the media and groups like BLM wanted to part in the actual details. Again, the only think that mattered was a black person who did not have a gun was shot by a white cop.
It did not matter that Michael Brown stole food from a convenience store, assaulted the owner on his way out, ignored police requests to move out of the street, refused to comply with police orders, disrespected the police, attacked a policeman, and the policeman shot and killed Brown - a 'kid' who had no weapon. He was 'another' un-armed black person shot and killed by a white cop.
It does not matter to many that Slager's victim refused to comply, broke the law, resisted arrest, attempted to attack him, and then tried to run. 'He was 'another' un-armed black person shot and killed by a white cop.'
I am not 100% familiar with all the facts of this case. I am not saying Slager did not do anything wrong or that if he had done something different this could not have been prevented. I am saying if his victim had done some things different he would not be dead right now.
