Access to relatively cheap NG would be a boon to Germany. A thriving Germany dependent on Russian NG is something the US has been fighting for decades. It looks like we will continue to fight it.

Fighting Russian NG to Germany has been a constant of US foreign policy over several administrations, both democratic and republican. It is cold war politics revisited and the Biden administration is in general accord with the republican leadership of both houses of congress. There is no effective democratic opposition.

Moldova, which cannot scrape together enough money to pay Russia for gas, has approved a cooperation plan with NATO.
I wonder why NATO will not help Moldova with gas, or at least will not throw money for an urgent winter payment? Moldova cooperates with it, after all.
The head of the energy company "Moldovagaz" Vadim Cheban said that Moldova is not able to pay for gas in January, there is no money.
That's the whole success story of independent Moldova. Thirty years of the way to a bright future without Russia.
