You know, I'm happy for Germany, I really am. I think if they're making it, then they must be doing something right... for them.

But rdean, let me make this very, very clear for you. I AM NOT A FREAKIN GERMAN. I am an American. As such, I am a free man and I don't want government telling me what to do. Now what that means is, if you've ever been to Germany, I have NO DESIRE to be like the Germans. I like them. I think they're a great country and a friend to this nation. But I don't want to be like them.

You see, in my pickup I carry an M-4, a Remington 870, and a Colt double eagle. On my ranch, they come in very handy when you run across a diamond back or a pack of dogs is trying to bring down a calf. They also come in handy when the odd meth-head wanders onto the property and thinks that he can set up a lab at the end of a country road. I've never seen many pickup trucks in Germany, let alone ranchers who carry weapons like I do. I'm not giving up my guns rdean. You can outlaw them all you like, but they will stay with me. PERIOD.

As a free man, I come and go as I please, and my ranch is MINE. The Department of Agriculture wants to come onto my property, they better by God have a warrant. Same goes for the EPA who want to inspect the wells that are on my property. If they ask nicely, then maybe I'll let them, or if Barry has really pissed me off that day because my taxes have gone up, maybe I won't. In either case they all know to tread lightly around here. City cops, the sheriff's department and highway patrol have standing permission to hunt my property. But as agents of the government, if they want to snoop around, it's called a warrant. Get one and take it to my lawyer.

Have you been to Germany? The Germans are very nice and they go where they are told and they patiently wait for everything. It's so clean and neat and organized. I am an American rdean. I don't stand in line well. I won't stand in line well. The government tells me to go here and do this, the first thing that comes out of my mouth is, WHY? And they better have a good answer. If a government buearocrat tells me to go here, I tell him to pound sand. You see, I don't care what the government wants, that is not my problem. I am an individual, not a member of a group. And as a free AMERICAN I don't care what the freakin government wants. My ancestors came here in covered wagons. There was no government, no sheriff, nothing. They didn't want anything either. It's that sense of independence, of freedom, that distinguishes Americans from those really nice Europeans.

Why can't we be like the German's rdean? Because WE ARE AMERICANS. And with it comes all of the messy and chaotic and noisey paraphenalia of being an American... of being a FREE MAN. You want us to be like the Europeans. Ain't going to happen... I like my freedom. And occassionally, I like to exercise that freedom by pissing off someone who wants me to stand in line or behave myself like those really nice Europeans.

I'm stationed right here in Germany and happen to know that Americans stationed here and their families do envy a lot of the things that Germany provides for its citizens that we don't do in America such as having a health care system where you'll never have to worry about not being treated if you have a serious illness. I do know that the Germans laugh their asses off at the Republican vision of what socialism is.
