GoFundMe for anonymous whistleblower raises more than $58K
The identity of the author of the whistleblower complaint that alleges misconduct by President Trump in his dealings with Ukraine is unknown, but that hasn't stopped people from showing their support online.
A GoFundMe page titled "Help the Intelligence Officer Whistleblower," was created Wednesday and has already raised more than $58,000 for the anonymous person.
The page says that all proceeds will go to pay for the whistleblower's legal fees.
The whistleblower's allegations — that Trump sought to pressure Ukraine to investigate a political rival — have roiled Washington and spurred House Democrats to move forward with an impeachment inquiry into Trump.
Mark Zaid, who is serving as the whistleblower's legal counsel, confirmed the fundraising effort on Twitter Wednesday night.
"We would appreciate any and all support US citizens can give," Zaid tweeted.
