Most of these browsers, always say Not secure. I am using Opera, which I love (for a browser), and I get no errors at all, but it does say Not secure.

That's because it's not secure.

Try this;

Type https://www.usmessageboard.com/

Notice you get an error regarding the SSL certificate. The error is false, but the cause is real. The server running the board is using a self-signed certificate and operating under TLS 1.1

Kat as you recommended in PM I have downloaded Opera Browser and I am now logged in here with Opera, confused though because Opera say it has a Built In Ad Bloc but I have a TON of Ad's so where is the Built In Ad Bloc Opera say it has?

I add I also am logged in here with the other Browser I have used today Microsoft Edge. Still nothing happening with Google Chrome though still get same Error Message.

Go in Extensions which is off on the left.

Excellent! I now have ZERO ad's.

Hello

I now get from approx 20 minutes ago an error message using Google Chrome to not allow access to US Messageboard as now Not Secure situation and that US Messageboard valid certificate expire now and that Google Chrome now not allow access because of stealing informations on personal things and credit cards etc

So I am posting this OP using different Browser and you can notice it allow me to access this forum. I have not AdBloc on this Browser but now go and do because WTF the ads on this forum are crazy x 1000

Mods and/or Admin and also other forum members if using Google Chrome you have the same problem as I explain above or not having?

This caused by SSL/https redirection.

Long story short, change the "https" part of the URL in your address bar to "http" instead.

Disable your SSL Certificates in settings.

Before you do this make sure Chrome is the latest version as that alone might fix the problem.

Okay I can see no option to allow me to Disable SSL Certificates.
Tools,
Options,
Advanced settings.

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Click the Chrome menu button
Note: The button is in the upper right of the browser and is indicated by three horizontal dots.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Scroll down to System or enter Proxy into the Search settings field.
  5. Click Open proxy settings.
  6. Click the Advanced tab
  7. Check or uncheck the options for Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0
  8. Close the Settings tab
  9. Exit and relaunch the browser
Now this could open you up if you're visiting secure sites, banking, bill pay, etc........ Unless you're using SSL 3.0.

I have ALREADY in operation ALL squares checked in Use TLS 1.0 also checked Use TLS 1.1 also checked Use TLS 1.2 should ALL these ALL be checked or should some be NOT checked?
Unfortunately that is a question I cannot answer with complete certainty. Pretty sure as long as TLS 1.2 is checked the rest doesn't matter as 1.2 replaces 1.1 generally making 1.1 unnecessary.

Honestly, since there is no financial or personal information that passes on this site, I don't know that it really matters.

The worst that could happen is an IP trace, and most of us are NATed behind a firewall or using a VPN.

Try an explicit HTTP://www.usmessageboard,com

Your browser might be assuming a secure site.

Unfortunately that is a question I cannot answer with complete certainty. Pretty sure as long as TLS 1.2 is checked the rest doesn't matter as 1.2 replaces 1.1 generally making 1.1 unnecessary.

The browser and server will negotiate to the lowest common encryption model. Most network professionals view TLS 1.1 as unsafe. The differences are detailed here.

  • TLS 1.2 allows the use of authenticated encryption modes like GCM. This can replace the more traditional CBC encryption mode, which has historically been a source of many flaws. Properly implemented CBC encryption is still fine; however, it appears that properly implementing CBC encryption is easier said than done. Getting GCM right seems a more readily achievable goal.

  • TLS 1.2 mandates support for TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA whereas TLS 1.1 required only TLS_RSA_WITH_3DES_EDE_CBC_SHA. Thus, if you use TLS 1.2 then you have a "guarantee" that AES encryption will be available. (This is not in fact completely true: the guarantee holds only as long as no "application specific profile" mandates otherwise. Also, you will get AES only if both client and server support it, and if they both support it, then it is available, regardless of whether TLS 1.1 or 1.2 is used.)

One other possibility.

Disable your addons and extensions one at a time and then revisit this site and see if it changes. If the error goes away, its that extension/addon that is causing the problem.

Hmm....Well, the VPN was a long shot anyway. If you're on a corporate computer, then it may be that the IT admin has set specific restrictions against some websites. usmessageboard may be one of them.

Yes and Yes the first I have to now because of my new job.

You can usually turn the VPN off. Typically you need to reboot after turning it off. If you are using an SSL VPN it could easily interfere. I have a Palo Alto firewall on my work network and use the Global Connect VPN. When the VPN is active I cannot access this site. I have to deactivate and then reboot to connect.

Yeah, I get the same problem with My VPN and amazon. However, if it were the VPN, then none of her browsers would be able to access this locale. I, of course, thought of that right after I posted. lol

I'm thinking that she has an extension or an addon that screwed something.

If it is still coming up, the browser should be giving you the chance to designate the website as an exception. Just do that.

A secure connection is useful when you are using a website to communicate potentially sensitive information. For example, buying something online requires that you input your credit card. The https secure connection effectively creates an armored tunnel between your computer, and the website's server (their computer). The connection prevents a third party from breaking into the connection and intercepting the information you're sending. And even if a third party managed to break into the tunnel, the information is encrypted. The encryption key is located in the SSL certificate on the website's server. So the third party would never be able to decipher it.

Since you're not ordering pizza off of USMB, there's nothing to worry about.
