If the Dems are filibustering, it's because Reps are trying to get Obama to swallow a poison pill. If they want a deal passed, they need to negotiate with the Dems, NOT play chicken. Nothing to do with extortion. Repub's were refusing to fill vacant judicial nominations and executive appointments. The refusal to approve these appointments were causing crisis in the courts and government agencies so the so called "nuclear option" was implemented to allow votes in the Senate that called for simple majority rule. Majority rule is not the same as extortion. They do not compare.
