Has the republican perception of the income inequality crisis changed at all?

I realize that some Rightwingers are so childish that they can't even admit that the massive inequality gap even exists, but it is equally troubling when they don't think it is a problem that 1% of the top earners own 40% of the nation's wealth.

Has this changed? I want to know. I know republicans have trouble with inconvenient facts but at some point they have to see the light. This economic issue is far worse than any government regulation ever conceived in this country.

News flash: economists warn that this problem alone will inevitably lead to more economic crises. Why? Because this is a consumption based economy. If more and more money is being concentrated at the top and the middle class is shrinking, the economy becomes destabilized because of the drop in consumer spending.

Of course republicans refuse to do anything about this problem. They are of course against any gov intervention on the economy despite the fact that is the ONLY way to fix the problem. They can't even agree to raise the federal minimum wage. Do you really think any wage under $10 is a liveable wage? It's waaayyy behind on inflation too. Not only would raising the min wage to 10 do very little to kill jobs or increase prices, but it would lift 16 million people out of poverty. The increase in demand from the higher wages would also create jobs. Government dependence would also lessen. Productivity in the lower classes has gone up 100% yet wages have only gone up 8%. Obviously that's a problem.

Republicans need to get out the way. Maybe they have the simple minded Fox News audience fooled, but the rest of us want these problems fixed.

Obama was in total control of Washington for two years. He did nothing about this. He has had control of the White House and Senate for 4 years. He has done nothing about this. He has had a totally sycophantic press at his beck and call for 6 years, willing to help him with his initiatives and to cover up his mistakes. He has done nothing about this.

And you want to say it's the Republicans' fault?

I will say Obama made light of this issue too late. However, what exactly is he supposed to do about it? You people are against any gov intervention on the market.

Oh and Bush's tax cuts only added to this problem.

If you don't know what Obama is supposed to do about it, why are you criticizing Republicans for not doing anything about it? Do you not see the cognitive dissonance in what you're saying? On the one hand, Republicans are teh bad because they're not doing something about a situation you don't like. It doesn't matter to you that they have no real power and can't get ANYTHING enacted without Harry Reid and Obama being on board. On the other hand, you totally excuse Obama from doing anything about it, even though he DOES have power, by saying you don't know what he's supposed to do.

Um no because Obama tried to raise the minimum wage. While I agree this isn't enough and has come way too late, what the fuck else can he do?

Yeah, left-wing economists say all sorts of silly things.

Because this is a consumption based economy.

Baloney. Greece is a consumption based economy, they just don't produce enough.
We're a production based economy. And Obama's policies have hurt production.

Do you really think any wage under $10 is a liveable wage?

Do you think low-skilled workers should be able to support 3 kids and a 3 bedroom house on their low-skill wage?

The increase in demand from the higher wages would also create jobs.

Perfect example of liberal economic idiocy.

Do you really think raising the minimum wage will reduce income disparity? We've been raising it for decades now and it hasn't done anything of the sort.

I already spelled this out. You even acknowledged it.

Any independent economist knows this is a problem.

Greece? What the fuck are you talking about?

Should those kids suffer because of their parent's choice of work? Don't you think people should be paid based on productivity?

Dude I just fucking said it wouldn't be enough. It's at least a start.

you do know that A) President's don't control the tax rates and B) once a tax rate is extended once that POTUS is out of office it is ESPECIALLY no longer "his" tax cut don't you?

Income equality must be stopped. Why should a brain surgeon make more than a pizza delivery boy? The skill set is nearly identical.
See as usual some of you have no fucking clue what I am even talking about.

Here's the closest we can come to "income equality"

1. Close ALL wefare programs, that means every last one of them. No SNAP, no subsidy, no TIA, no nothing. Have to fire about half million government workers in the process, but oh well.

2. Raise the minimum wage to $10 an hour

3. Convert to a national sales tax at the retail level

4. Send every household in America a one time payment of $100K of taxpayer money, tax free

5. Tell everyone that from this point, they are on their own and we don't want to hear another word about "income equality"

I know you want to think everything is a crisis that should justify government intervention, but it simply isn't true.

You're right, every low-skilled worker should be able to get a nice 3 bedroom in a good neighborhood for their 3 kids, based on a job that requires no education or special skills.

Maybe Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should get involved? LOL! Idjit.

Greece? What the fuck are you talking about?

Consuming is easy. Any lazy fuck can do that. So why hasn't consumption made Greece an economic powerhouse?

Right, because liberal idiocy about economics eventually runs into economic reality.
