They claimed the reason that they needed to impeach Trump now instead of waiting for an election to remove him was that he was a danger to national security! Maybe not but she seemed in such a hurry to get it through the House and now delays sending them to the Senate. Whatever the reason it's bad optics we have seen support for impeachment falling with indpendents especially in swing states this won't help. Plus the longer this drags out the more impact it will have on Senate Democrats running for President I doubt any of them want to be dealing with this when the primary voting starts.

The only reason why Nancy withholding the Senate trial. It is because they are paying Republicans senators to drop out of the race so that the Dems can regain back the Senate. And so she is going to delay it until after the election. But right now: they are negotiating the price with Republican senators to see how much cash they want, that will get them to retire from office. And there might be a few Democrat senators that will not go along with the program on impeaching the President. And also they are being paid to resign.
So basically, they are trying to clear the stage before they will go along with the proceeding. And the Republicans needs to go ahead with the process right now, before the Dems rig the election in their favor

Should all presidents be allowed to shake down a foreign leader for personal favors or just this one?
