Obviously Kissinger is totally correct on this.
Putin was NEVER interested in occupying any of the Ukraine.
Russia already is way too big, undeveloped, full of unutilized resources.
And the Ukraine is way too fascist, fractionalized, full of competing ethnic groups.
The ONLY reason this war broke out is that the Ukraine was stealing billions worth of Russian pipeline oil, arresting or murdering all candidates friendly to Russia, tried to join NATO in order to put US nukes on Russia's border, was illegally stockpiling treaty violation US weapons, deliberately cut off negotiations with Moscow, etc.

Anyone who claims then that Russia was at fault or started this war is just a liar.
Clearly it was the US who deliberately started it, going back to the US takeover of Kyiv in 2014.
Since then, Kyiv has committed dozens of acts of war, in violation of many treaties.

There was no theft or murder

No one including the US tried to or wants to try to put nukes on Russia's border

They did not stock pile any US weapons until after the invasion began and they have no such treaty to violate.
