Homeless in the USA.

No. We were just on the street in New York. Slept in the subway a lot. We hitchhiked. In 1950 hitchhiking was common. We would hitchhike up to Cape Cod and live on the beach and sleep under a pier. Milk and bread were delivered so we stole that off porches. Mom and Dad, my stepfather really, would find someone alone, beam them with a sap and take whatever valuables they had. Sap made from a sock and a good sized rock.

Sometimes some goof would feel sorry for us and give us a place to stay, or food or something. Mom and dad would steal what they could and we would be gone.

I grew to despise every person that helped, fed, sheltered us. I hate them to this very day. No matter how young I was, I burned with hate. My predicament was their fault. If those do gooders had let us starve, my parents might have made different choices. Instead these individuals did everything they could to make living on the streets bearable.

To this day I will not help any human being. If I saw someone bleeding to death and I had the last band aid on earth, I wouldn't offer it. I will do anything I could for animals birds, reptiles and even a needy fish. People can go piss up a rope.

Sounds like you were real lowlifes. Maybe it isn't society you should be hating but yourself. Though much blame does lie with society. But that is mostly because they are sheeple wanting to be led.

I don't have a house. But even if I did, it would never fit over 500,000 people.

Start out with 5 or 10 first.

Next, why should I go the trouble of providing you with a link when you are sure to just give me more shit anyway.

I'll only give you shit if your claim was fake.

1. Five or Ten is pretty short from over 500,000.

2. Nothing I post is fake.

Here's an interesting fact. In the U.S., there are around 582,000 homeless people in the U.S. But there are more than 25 vacant homes in the U.S. for every homeless person here.
Whats so interesting about it?

That's not gonna happen. As I try to tell people, not every town or city in the country can be turned into a technology center or a manufacturing hub. It just isn't possible. I try to tell my children this that sometimes, you have to move where the work is and make do. Later on, you may be able to live and work where you want. That's what my parents had to do.

And the government can't just "build" affordable housing. They can subsidize it (which they would have to do..heavily), but there are a whole host of other factors (taxes, land, financing, materials, labor) that go into what is categorized as "affordable housing".

FDR seemed to think it was possible in the speech he gave about adopting a second bill of rights. I posted the video around here somewhere. Also, I too moved around the country looking for work. But it didn't do much good. Next, if you have manpower, you can do anything. And we have plenty of that. What we need to do is create jobs where people are actually producing or building something. Instead of having so many people flip each other's burgers.

How bad would it have to get to make some get off their asses and get a job? Poverty should hurt until it motivates. How bad will the pain have to get depends on the person. But they should not be accommodated. No food. No shelter. Nothing. Not a roll of toilet paper.

I hated being poor. I went to college, then law school. But I never took a penny of hand outs from anyone.

We have the fattest most indolent poor in the world. Starve them.

Well, is it their job?
Seems the job of being a politician is convincing enough ignorant people that they like you....
Nothing in the contract about being competent at actually running things, and improving people's lives....

Who pays to put them into office? The wealthy. What do the wealthy love? Slaves. Want to see things change? Well I would say vote National Socialist. But the wealthy would probably put forward a national socialist candidate that suits them. About the only meaningful thing anybody can do is get a gun and go shoot as many people as possible. Not that I am promoting that action. But with politics working as they do, I don't see much alternative.

If the imbecile in the White House and all his gangsters would care about what really matters.....there would be much less homeless in America!

but no.....in his book is America last! :mad-61:

You mean slavery should hurt until it motivates. But whatever a slave master may motivate you to do isn't worth doing.

Democrat or republican, you're screwed either way.

Yep, it's why you never hear anything about Proportional Representation. It'd be much, much harder for the rich to control politics.

Unless anybody who is put into government office is put there by lottery, where there is no money involved, things won't change.

PR is harder to control because it's easier for third parties to get into power.

Right now all they have to do is throw money at a small area.
With PR it's about a nationwide campaign and it's very easy for smaller parties to pick up loads of votes, because there are always going to be a large number of people (like 30% upwards) who will oppose such messages from the mainstream.
