‘Housing for All’: Democrats push for big government response to soaring rents

I figured out what's wrong with the housing prices. (Cost of keeping a roof over the head)
Municipalities have increased property taxes so much little by little over the years, they hover around double what they should be.
Also municipalities horn in on rental property income, they extort the majority of the profit.
This drives rent prices up drastically.
So say you have a 2/1 house..with homestead exemption, taxes are around $1600.
Say you take a job on the road and decide to rent it out: Now your taxes are $8000
All the rent money is going to the municipalities. So much so that it's criminal.

Tax the rich and Federal government can fix this problem. As long as the rich get away with murder things go downhill. We have no money to invest in the country and our people. Great job!

well you invest in low-income housing that takes pressure off the existing home market. We haven't been investing in our infrastructure or our people for 30 years now. Dear Senate Democrats, good effort, but tax credits won’t solve this crisis. Working people need Housing-For-All: 10 million homes in 10 years.

a fifteen dollar an hour minimum wage and unemployment compensation simply for being unemployed can solve this problem for us, via market friendly means. applied capitalism, what concept.

No the trend for some time has been single double triple family homes in neighborhoods.... Also if the rich paid their fair share we can have money to help people do all kinds of things we don't anymore.

When somebody needs free housing, it's not fiscally responsible to put them into a neighborhood with $500K houses, Derper Dupe!
Stop the waste and more people can be helped. Get local gov't to ease off the property taxes and it fosters more home ownership and people have more money to stimulate the economy with.

State and local taxes have gone up as federal aid has dried up since Reagan cut the tax rate to 28%. Ridiculous. Great job! And state and local taxes kill regular people. Twice as high percentage rates than rich people.
