They were military veterans, business owners, former prosecutors, former executives - the type of people that traditionally would be Republicans, so they were seen by the voters as NOT TYPICAL DEMOCRATS.

The Nut-Jobs like AOC ran in districts where there essentially IS NO Republican Party, where the person who wins the Democrat primary essentially gets the seat. So they don't have to be rational.
