How could anyone be "independent" or a "swing voter" at this time in history?

Indy’s take great pride in casting a meaningless vote...they honestly believe that voting for Mickey Mouse is empowering...it’s the weirdest shit in politics...ask Golfing Gator about it...he’ll spin it for you.

And yet, your vote for Trump in Cali had the same exact impact as my vote for Johnson in my state. But your vote means something and mine does not. The two parties count on people like you, and you never let them down.

Does that mean you’d vote duopoly if you lived in Michigan? Or would you still vote for Mickey Mouse?

A vote for Johnson in Michigan would still have as much impact on the election as your vote for Trump in Cali.

Haha...that’s your spin, run with it.
So you weirdos will spend hours a day on a message board talking politics then refuse to cast an impactful vote come election time...and you brag about that like it makes sense to anybody not weird.
Why even fuck with national politics...why not save yourself all the time, effort and headache...why vote at all....Mickey Mouse will never win.

I'm an independent because I know neither side has all the answers nor do I believe that either are evil. We are more nuanced than that and to think everything can be labelled and placed into a neat little one size fits all kind of box is just unrealistic.

Furthermore the only thing party politics has accomplished is to further divide people. We're to busy demonizing and hating one another simply for being on the "wrong side". We have to be better than that because that is the only way we're going to get a leader who truly intends to unite us and work for the betterment of the people. But as long as we continue to behave the way we do, our leadership will only reflect who we are as a society.

If my not choosing "sides" bothers you or anyone else than that's going to have to be something that you work out on your own. Voting party simply beacause we share a D or R in front is just dangerous and irresponsible and I will not blindly contribute to that sort of self destructive behavior. I will always choose integrity, honesty, and respectfulness regardless of affiliation simply because they will legitimately care about this nation and the people. So far those kinds of people are far and few between.

Look, the fence sitter / Libertarian resume always sounds noble as fuck...it’s supposed to, but that doesn’t make it less ignorant.
Would I have been a total and complete dumbass if on the day of the Super Bowl I bet on the Patriots to win?
I hated both teams...the Niners and the Chiefs but one of the two were going to win...it makes first grade level sense to bet on one of the two with a chance at winning.
I know, I know...”false equivalency”....right Golfing Gator ?

I have a very high bar for the people I vote for. Basically if you have traits about you that I wouldn't want in a spouse, someone that I will spend the rest of my life with, than I'm not going to vote to put you in a position of power that effects not just me, but billions of of other people. I do not condone dishonesty or bullish behavior and I will not reward it. Now you may see that as fence sitting, but for me that is exercising the only voice I have, however miniscule it may be.

I vote Green but that is more or less the same thing as independent given how seldom I even have a candidate on the ticket. As for how could I be---that is is pretty easy. Both parties are Wall Street whore houses.

so you and mac have no compromise possible to vote for a candidate. it's all or nothing huh?

There is no common ground between the parties. The old "two sides of the same coin" paradigm of the 1990's has long past. The "establishment" of both parties (Bushies and Clintonites) longer controls the actual parties lol.

It's now National-Federalist-Libertarian-constitutional-republicans vs Global-Unitary-Marxist- democrats (one world mob-rule).

We want the United States to define and secure its border, maintain the Federalist doctrine of dual sovereignty , with limits on both the federal and state governments on individual persons, in accordance with an enduring social contract (that is meant to be difficult to amend) that preserves a Republican form of government.

Democrats want a global state with no border, with one big giant command center of unelected "experts," to redistribute all resources according to mob demand. LOL

The "moderates" at this point are assholes who refuse to acknowledge RIGHT Vs. WRONG and sit on a fence they created in their own mind preening themselves and acting as if they're superior because they refuse to take a stand until one side defeats the other.

Miserable pathetic pieces of shit that have nothing to fight for and are only interested in their own ends.

Then there are leftist pieces of shit like Mac1958 who pretend to be "moderate" like fakey, yet they're still just as bigoted and ignorant as any other liberal parasite.

.

No offense, but you two are wrong! The answer is quite simple------------>at least 50% of Americans don't pay attention to politics like we do. They might have an hour a day to watch the evening news, and they see the MSM telling them this, that, and the other. They have little of an idea what is really going on.

It is not their fault! They are working with children, trying to do the best they can. But look what happens when a real event comes along that they have time to watch like the SOTU. You all seen what independents thought of that speech, and they start coming on board.

Why do you think the Left is so full of narratives? Ask yourself--------->what got more play in the media; 2 years of Trump was a Russian stooge, or his exoneration from those charges? If most Americans had actually paid attention, the Left would not be still throwing out innuendo that Trump is still tied with the Russians, and we all know it. Many Americans chuckle when these Leftists say such things today, and yet there are people who are still not aware; that is what the Left banks on.

Let me tell you both; and in fact most of the people on this board that-------------->there is only ONE remedy for this! The government is going to have to indict some people for CONSPIRACY on the spygate matter, and get the news cycle talking about it. To do less is going to keep this election close, no matter who the Democratic nominee is. If this happens, a lightbulb goes on in America and explains WHY all of these things have happened; basically to cover up the Lefts complicity.

Put yourself in Americans shoes who don't really pay close attention---------------------->if all of this is not partially true about Trump, why is it happening? Our government is the land of the free, and home of the brave, and where there is smoke there is fire, correct! Why would these people dog Trump for nothing? Yeah, he keeps getting acquitted, but so did Al Capone, until he didn't!

This is why the Trump Administration along with Barr/Durham has to deliver; and deliver long before November. We want a landslide? THAT is the one thing that will absolutely produce it! I know this, if you did not, you too now know this, and the Left knows this also!

And by the way----------------->if the DNC has anything to say about it, using every tactic at their disposal, Bernie nor Warren will be the nominee. So without those indictments, you will be facing a supposed moderate created out of fairydust by the Left, while they claim Trump is all the words they have used for the last 3 years.

Godspeed Barr and Durham! We need that info ASAP!

Your OP explains why some of us are independents. We don't want to be dems, but we don't lie about them either.

Depends on what you're asking for. I'm not so much concerned about policy position as I am over who the person is as a person.

I vote Green but that is more or less the same thing as independent given how seldom I even have a candidate on the ticket. As for how could I be---that is is pretty easy. Both parties are Wall Street whore houses.
You don't believe there is any difference whether the GOP or the DEMs are in power?

Nope.
It's not just about ties to Wall Street. I agree both parties are influenced by the big money but that is just one aspect. Border policy, illegal immigration, trade policy, the Middle East, etc. are all treated very differently by the two parties.

I'm sure that sounds nice to you on paper, but how does it play out in the real world of having to choose a President?

I've been an independent from the first time I voted and won't likely change that.

Your description doesn't match the independents I know and it sure as hell isn't me.

Okay, so how does that play out for you in the real world of having to choose a President?

They should change the name of the Libertarian party to the low IQ party

Golfing Gator is a member? Maximize freedoms by opening the borders to all the people in the world who hate freedoms... not the smartest indeed.

Not all Libertarians favor open borders, the thing about the Libertarian party is that it is not like the two parties of the duopoly, we accept different ideas and views on things and do not drive them away.
And get 3 votes.

I vote Green but that is more or less the same thing as independent given how seldom I even have a candidate on the ticket. As for how could I be---that is is pretty easy. Both parties are Wall Street whore houses.
Green is the new Soviet union type policies?

SIx of one half a dozen of the others. Greens and Libertarians overlap on many issues.

You’re right...both are absolute fucking retards harboring hardcore cases of megalomania and fascinated by being “DIFFERENT”.

Well we are different, pack animal.

Not between the current field of dems and republicans.

You don't believe there is any difference whether the GOP or the DEMs are in power?

the difference: republicans are fascist christians who want to enforce christian biblical law and criminalize (deport? execute) gays, liberals, feminists, democrats, muslims, atheists.

democrats are socialists who want free stuff for everyone!

which do you prefer?

free stuff?

or murdering gays and atheists?

which sounds like more fun to you?

And yet their very differently always ends up to the benefit of Wall Street not the American people. The thing you do not see in your response is that the issues that came to mind to you are all related to not Americans first.

I have heard it a million times--a vote for X is a vote for Y. I vote for ME, not X or Y.
