How do the "poor" live so well in the US?

There are citizens who stood by this country through thick and thin, some merely ask for the social contract granted them long ago, some have asked nothing in return

you polluted people who see only with welfare queen glasses on direly need , and most likely will, walk in their shoes

~S~

And there are some who are born into the welfare system.... grow up in the welfare system...and are more then happy to suck off of that teat for the rest of their lives.

i fail to see any 'light and truth sent forth' in your stereotyping

Truth is hard for the Left

The left needs a permanent underclass to stay in and keep their power
Indeed, welfare is nothing more than "sugar coated" slavery

and the Left likes it that way

Many of the poor in the U.S. live far better than the middle class (if there is one) in the rest of the world.

It's time to declare victory in the War On Poverty, and to cancel the programs.

Which "rest of the world" are you talking about? Industrialized Nations..like France and Germany? Or crapholes, like Haiti.

I've been to many places..and the homeless in NYC, were only in slightly better shape then the homeless lepers I saw in Bangkok. And that's only because the NYC homeless didn't have leporsy.

Truth? Here's the truth. This country tried to create a permanent underclass...they were called slaves. They existed for more then a century after this country was founded. Then after they were freed there was a de facto system of apartheid for at least another century. And that's not counting the colony years..which you could probably add century. So..3 centuries of devastation..is supposed to be wiped out by what? Four Decades of reform that did not include reparations?

The solution the left has implemented is to feed, provide housing, medical assistance and education to people who are in need of assistance. For the most part..that's worked. There's still a long way to go.

The solution the right is trying to implement is to ignore the problem. That didn't work from 1870 to 1933. It's not going to work today.

And look these poor people have their own private lake.

It's shocking that apparently 100% of poor people live in a house with a fridge.

Why aren't they out hunting and gathering???

Yeah I'll give you one perfect example of that class, too.

The MILITARY CASTE.

Generation after generation of lifers who never ever EVER worked for anybody but the military.

And what cracks me up about these people is when they retire they wax poetic about how much they love CAPITALISM, even thoigh their entire lifetimes they never practiced captialism, but instead THEY lived in a SOCIALIST economy supported by people stuggling to make it in a truly cut-throat capitalist economy.

Right now I'm, informed there's 1.5 million military retired with truly wonderful retirement packages.

Do we hear anyone on the Right suggesting that we ought to RENEGE on their retirement contacts?

No, of course not.

But NON-military public sectors workers like teachers and cops and firemen?

Those people they want to SCREW.

Hypocrites, the lot of them.

Now personally I think that their retirwement benefits are a good thing.

But then too I also think that we are obligated to ALSO HONOR the retirement packages of ALL WORKERS.

They don't.

TODAY'S video game is yesteryear's Monopoly, chutes and ladder, erector-set, and Lego..

wonder why the lists of present day luxuries are not in the op? comparing what was considered a luxury back in 1950 is just pure bull mal.

do the poor own vacation homes, boats, yachts, 40 ft worth of useable (hanging ) clothes and shoes, blackberries, androids, laptops, private jets, Jaguars, Recreational vehicles etc etc etc TODAY?

 What does that have to do with the OP?
the op lists things like refrigerators as ''luxuries'' the poor have today....

well, they are NOT luxuries, in today's standard, so the op and other people should not be soo ENVIOUS of the poor in this country owning a refrigerator, or a phone, for goodness sakes!

poor is relative to where you reside....i do agree in the usa, they are more fortunate than a third world country's poor.....but it is POOR, none the less....

Uh, okay. I can see how the entitlement generation got its start. Carry on.

Yeah..it basically started with the first fat government contract to build the navy warships and carries on today with the corporate bailouts.
