How do we stop the purveyors of blatant lies through social media.. An example of false information is whack job liars are spreading the lie that nobel-laureate says ivermectin-cures-covid-19. BLATANT LIE.

Social media has turned into a platform that the worst of the worst among us can spread their lies without any ramifications.
Before social medai these disgusting liars had very little reach. Those who knew them, ignored them.
We have to find a way to stop the liars, the conspiracy therorists being legitimized by social media.

Simple, the Federal government sets up the "truth police" run by Joe Biden

What could possibly go wrong?

Who says it's a lie? An MSM outlet? It's working for too many people, deal with it.

One person's truth is another person's lie. Regardless of where anyone stands on a topic, the government should not be the determining factor in such matters. Once any government is given the authority to regulate speech, freedom goes out the window.

People could always just hold themselves accountable and verify information through various sources and determine the truth. Lazy and ignorant people would only have themselves to blame if they fall for fake news.

Unfortunately, critical thinking skills are sorely lacking in America. Sorely lacking. We see evidence of this every day on this forum.

"I want to bleev it so it must be true!'

But there’s no downside for “falling for fake news” so there’s no point in blaming anyone.

Here you are talking about a conspiracy of people posting lies...by your own logic, you should ban yourself because you are a conspiracy theorist.

This is a non-existent issue. You're talking about banning someone for expressing their opinion, just because its not the same as your opinion? That would be straight up wrong.

Educate yourself on the facts so that you can identify false statements. Problem solved.

Someone spit on my black baby in an all-white Bar-B-Q joint!
Whitey is the devil! A perennial demon!
I swear to God this really happened!

:muahaha::muahaha::muahaha:

People fall for clickbait political lies all the time. And those that are unable to distinguish fact from fiction need their left nut or right tit squeezed in a F'in vise!!

Thats on social media companies. They should ban idiots but they relish the revenue they generate. There really is no way to stop it as long as it represents money for the companies.

Then there is point in trying to regulate it.
The point in regulating it is to prevent it from disseminating.

Although I don't favor government regulating it, I think platforms get to decide what content is permissible on their platforms.

When disinformation begins driving national politics, it's a national problem.
