I don’t understand why republicans are so selective about the definition of socialism

Yeah everyone thinks their time is worth more than it actually is

Why don't you find an employer who will pay you more for your time?

Why should I have to? Hey, promise pinky swear we won't try to rip you off...

Or we can just vote to change the system and make it harder for employers to rip you off.

You see, what cured me of Republican stupidity is I worked very hard for a company for six years, and managed one of their largest accounts. Then I busted up my knee, got into a year long fight with Cigna to get them to fix it, with my employer screwing me over the whole time....

Then I remember my Dad, who belonged to a union and had serious health issues at the end of his life. But funny thing. He belonged to a union. They took care of his medical and protected his job.

The ideal thing is when capitalists are afraid of workers, not when workers are afraid of capitalists.

OH my goodness Piggly Wiggly? You went with an attempted insult and you're the one bitching like a whore that got cheated because her trick lasted 5 minutes longer before he shot his load off in her mouth
Take my word on it just as I predicted in 2016 Trump will be your president in 2025

I think I hit a nerve there. Did you get turned down for that sweet job at the Piggly Wiggly, Cleetus?

If you are getting the price you agreed to sell your time for you are not getting ripped off

Again, you treat it like it was an equal and fair exchange, which it is not.

All the power in that exchange is with the employer, not the employee.

Now, if we had unions and strong worker protection laws, where employers were geniunely afraid of being sued by employers for misconduct, YOU MIGHT HAVE A POINT.

We used to have that in this country until the Republicans took a wrecking ball to the middle class.

But keep on scratching your head wondering why Bernie is getting 49% of the vote in polls.

Actually time is priceless. So employers are wise to pay people a price people will consider is worth them spending 1/3 of a day with that company.
No it's not if you agree to sell your time for 30K a year you are setting the worth of your time

To them, it’s a completely leftwing ideology when in reality it’s been part of the framework of the country since the beginning. The founders had socialist ideas after all. They basically were leftists. It’s also stupid to say that communism and socialism are the same thing when in reality communism is simply an example of socialism. Socialism itself is a very broad term that can’t be defined simply.

Also, isn’t Trump the bigger socialist than Obama? His bailout to farmers was twice as big as Obama’s bailout. Are republicans going to pretend that isn’t socialism?
These loons have conflated totalitarianism with socialism.
Socialism is a subset of totalitarianism.
No it is not. You can have totalitarianism in a capitalist economy. We're looking at the beginning of one and it will be one if we give trump 4 more years.
No, I don't think you can. What you can't have is freedom in a socialist economy.

Name one socialist country that is not totalitarian.
New Zealand. Germany, France.....
They aren't socialist, dumbass.

Yet if some of their policies were enacted here, you guys would be screaming SOCIALISM AAAUUUGGGHHH at the top of your lungs.

Do you really think we don't know that?

THIS is EXACTLY what the OP is talking about.

Yes you can since socialism is not a political system. Neither is capitalism.

Heritage Index of Economic Freedom

New Zealand - 3
Germany - 24
France - 71

Well, France is pretty far down the list. New Zealand is in the top 3.

Yes you can since socialism is not a political system. Neither is capitalism.

Only fools believe the two things are independent of each other. There's no freedom without economic freedom.

When you accepted the job you agreed to the terms

No, I really didn't. Like my last job... no one said, "This is a toxic, fear-based work environment where we say that you are expected to work 8-5, but we really want you to work 7-6 for no extra pay. Oh, yes, and most of the management are sociopaths"

Now, if every company had a CONTRACT that spelled things out, then you could make the argument that there was an actual agreement. You know, instead of "At Will" employment where they can let you go at any time for any petty reason

Your employer has the right to fire you

I have have a feeling that the most toxic person at your job is the one looking back at you in the mirror

Most companies actually do have a contract that spells things out.
