You clearly are not paying attention. Liberals expect the Senate to be a very close call with the odds favoring the GOP. We also expect to lose a few seats in the house.

The reason isn't listed in your OP. I will give you a nod on the voter suppression point. The will be some of that. But it isn't going to be pivotal in this election.

There are some liberals who think it's going to be a blood bath. I'm not going to predict either way how it will turn out. You never know before an election.

No matter the results of any election I blame #4. Voters are stupid.

Not stupid. Uninformed.
Here's a the short list
-People who vote often cast their ballot based on who they think will win. This may be because they never want to be made to feel as though their vote "didn't count".
-Voters for third parties are labeled as "protest voters". That's fairly accurate. A very small percentage of third party voters are self deluded to the idea the third party candidate has a shot at winning.
-Some voters will complain about the incumbent, but feel "safe" with that person in office so even though they think the incumbent is doing a poor job, they will vote them back into office. Then go right back to complaining about them.
-Then there are party line voters who cast ballots based on "my great grandparents were (fill in the blank) My grandparents ( supported same ) as are/were my parents() supported same) and so do I. Ironically, these types know nor do they care to know who is running on the party ticket. They vote for party. This is part of the reason why some states have eliminated straight ticket voting.
Perhaps it's time to examine the process. Perhaps political parties should be eliminated. All elections non-partisan.
This would force voters to actually DO SOMETHING and research each candidate before voting.
