If You Had Twenty Million Dollars, How Would You Spend It?

The self-made rich are more philanthropic than those who inherit wealth
How did you arrive at that interesting observation?

They did a study and found this to be true. Self made rich people aren't afraid of never making more money. People who inherit tend to hold on to their money because they aren't going to make anymore. Daddy was the successful one in the family. They were just lucky to be born with a silver spoon in their mouths. And they talk like they know it all and like life isn't fair for them because they pay too much taxes while playing polo and watching their hedge funds go up.

Trump says dont believe fake news then tells fake news
/---- Odd you didn't post any proof of Pres Trumps "fake news." Very odd indeed.

Obama spied on me, for starters. That's fake news. Birther, for 2. Lots of fake news.

Today I'm hearing Obama didn't attend Scalia's funeral because he was golfing.

President Obama Snubs Scalia's Funeral?

Need more you fucking idiots?
/---- Trump believes he was wiretapped. How is that fake news? What Nunes actually found becomes at least somewhat clear. The US intelligence community, during legally authorized surveillance of foreign nationals, picked up communications between members of Trump’s campaign and some unspecified, but definitely not Russian, individuals.

Mar 17, 2016 - President Obama did not attend either funeral. ... and President Obama's decision not to attend Scalia's funeral was criticized by conservative ...

Speaking of fucking idiots - how are you doing today?

Didn't Obama go pay his respects the day before or the day after? See you don't realize what fake news is. Fake news always has some amount of truth to it.

Fake news is a type of yellow journalism that consists of deliberate misinformation or hoaxes spread via the traditional print, broadcasting news media, or via Internet-based social media. Fake news is written and published with the intent to mislead in order to gain financially or politically, often with sensationalist, exaggerated, or patently false headlines that grab attention

So Trump fed you some exaggerated headlines and you believe it. Nice.

Buy a horse ranch.

There, that didn't take long.

I would have a couple horses but I'm going to have to hire someone ( a family member) to work this farm because I'm not going to be tied down. I'm sure I'll have no problem building an entourage.

Buy the board and cyber hang one liberal a month. Love to do it more often but we have a liberal shortage as it is!

Considering that you'd be taking out five posting ones with each demise, yeah, the shortage would be critical quickly. OTOH, harvesting puppets makes for great firewood stacks!

As to the 20 million....

First, spend about 5 of it to arrange things so moochers approaching me would silently cease to breathe.

Next, pre-pay a bunch of utilities and routine monthly bills. Actually pay them ahead for about twice my projected lifetime. It would result in leaving money on the table but I'd be covered for various price/rate increases for life.

I'd give careful thought to where I want to live....because then tax levels would be of no importance. I might like to replicate the house I live in perhaps in a different location. Not easy to find a better one mainly because no place has a 100% year-round perfect climate. That could mean keeping this house and building another with complete duplication of clothing, appliances, etc. After all the cost of migration twice each year would be of no import except for the inconvenience. No new computer; TV; vehicles. I like what I have and would try to closely match them at the "new" or "second" home.

Then hire a damn good estate specialist:

A good comfortable amount should go to offspring but not so much as to deaden the worth ethic. Probably I'd leave less than way that most would imagine. No animosities; just don't want to create a wastrel.

I'd like to fund the education of several young people who have treated me well and ensure they have, upon graduation, enough of a cash cushion to be free to travel (for a year or so) and ultimately relocate to a place they want to work and live.

There are a couple of charities I'd probably give something immediately. Perhaps fund some specific projects. Beyond that, an endowment on which they could draw the interest BUT with a poison pill so if they diverted from the purpose for which they were established they'd lose it all. Maybe just take it and throw a beer bash. Or put on a big fireworks display. Let them see it go entirely to what they'd consider "waste".

Yeah, having 20 million would have fun. If it didn't kill me.

It's interesting to note that those on the Left would spend the money, and those on the right would invest it.
How did you arrive at that conclusion? You seem to have access to a lot of rather obscure statistics. I think one's IQ and social background would have more to do with how one handled a $20,000,000 fortune than would one's political orientation.

I believe any reasonably intelligent and sensible individual would spend some of the money to improve his/her immediate lifestyle and invest some of it to plan a comfortable future.

(As an afterthought to better understand your use of the terms, "left" and "right," are you referring to one's political disposition or to one's social status?)

I would make sure the people I love never have to work if they don't want to. A lot of us don't like working. So their home will be paid off and I'll give them spending money but they have to work for me and if they want to do better than just be part of my entourage they might want to save up and keep working for a little bit so they have a nest egg in case they ever get sick of me they won't be trapped being my kato cailyn. I would tell them to save for 5 years while I pay for everything and then stop working. And I'm only talking about my brother, dad and nephews.
