The rich and corporations will do away with unions and democrats and what you consider the middle class today will become the working poor.

We already see trump and republicans have really only enriched the rich and slowly are chipping away at your social security and Medicare

I’m above it. I’ve got no debt, low bills, make good money. I should be alright. Will you? Are you already retired? What makes you buy in to republican bs? Money, god, gays, guns, racism?

You have no clue how important unions are. As union membership went from 35% to 10% of our workforce, wages have gone down. No coincidence.
You guys say this all the time, it never happens
And people are different than in the 1890s. It's not like people can't get better wages through competition. They do. I work in IT, it has a good track record of salary and no unions........I don't need to pay some greaser to siphon my money to his bank account or to some political cause I don't like.

No IT is an industry that has come and gone. Remember when companies had IT departments? Now they outsource that shit to small IT companies who don't pay their employees shit. Those guys aren't making a good living. YOU aren't making a good living I bet. Your job is now in the CLOUD.

IT jobs have no job security. I don't know one person in IT today who has a steady job for more than 5 years or who is making a good living.

You're assuming that being an effective teacher is irrelevant.

Considering the curriculum I’ve seen in most schools these days, it is irrelevant.
What does that mean? I've had some good teachers and some bad ones, but I remember the great ones like my 7th Grade social Studies teacher, she was fantastic. If you have no incentive to perform, then you get shitty results. Which is why the school system sucks like it does. The unions control everything. teachers cant do anything without their approval. They cant innovate, they cant discipline, they cant do anything to make a subject fun and exciting.

I'm don't know about the union stuff affecting what a teacher can do in a classroom, but I do know all the geniuses at the dept. of education do everything they can to prevent teachers from teaching. Over a month a year, they force teachers to teach students to take a test that does nothing for college admissions.
Again, standardized testing is the only way to make sure people are being taught. I'm a big fan of it. The problem is whats in the test. It should be basic stuff, easy and then you can move on to more difficult things. We had a test in high school (my sr year we were doing the test but we didn't have to pass, but the classes afterward did) And man was it easy, I don't know how anyone could fail it......it was like a citizen ship test.......it's easy crap, how does anyone not know such basic things?

BALONEY!

The best way of making sure students are being taught is parental oversight and involvement.

Standardized tests are gamed; and all students end up being "taught" is how to pass a bogus test. That is not education.

Those jobs are the low end of IT, I used to do that stuff. Yes you can get outsourced and yes they have lower pay, but it's higher than something like McDonalds or retail work. Again those are entry level jobs. But they make good money still

I work as a business analyst, it's the other have of IT jobs in project management.....some of it is outsourced (maybe people in the us should take computer science, not women's studies courses), and it is very well paid. Benefits are great, but our client in Memphis is a huge company, they have a HUGE IT department, but sometimes it's cheaper to hire an outside firm for a specific project. I mean you really don't know how it works, so please stop looking like an idiot spewing your talking points, when you don't even know about the job.

Unless this is regionalized, the data is meaningless. Here is the Bay Area, junior people are paid high salaries because the cost of living is so high. This has caused tech companies to relocate or set up regionalized offices in lower cost areas. $89K in Salt Lake City will enable one to buy a much nicer home than $100K in San Francisco (note, in SF, $100K is considered Low Income).

Are you a high end computer programmer/developer or are you just a grunt?

"50% (Median)" indicates that 50% of workers earned less and 50% earned more

Because I bet you are in the 50% who makes less than $79,000.

How much less? Do they make $50K a year? Not that good of a profession then huh?

Yeah, don't bet what you can't afford to lose...dumbass.
You can't win with me. If you make $50K, you're an idiot. If you make $100K then I get why you vote GOP. Just don't tell people who make $50K they should be voting GOP because they are in a different tax bracket than you.
Why should people who make $50k vote democrat?

Unions gave us the 40 hour work week, child labor laws, vacations, healthcare and over time.

This reminds me of Republicans screaming they hate healthcare and now that they are losing it, are screaming WAAAAIT A MINUTE!

We had it before dipshit.

to you lefties....here is a shocker, but we had better and cheaper healthcare BEFORE Obamacare.......stop trying to rewrite history when we actually lived it.

You're an Army Recruiter?

.

Yep! I work for the U.S. Army Recruiting Command as a civilian contractor.

Did it for 5.5 years, we always said USARC didn't invent micromanaging, but they damn sure perfected it. That was a life time ago, 82-88.

.

Now, we do the prospecting for you. They love having me as I did Navy recruiting and I show them what they are doing wrong.:D

I enjoyed it, for the most part. Never had a recruit accuse me of lying, never had an investigation and only had one trainee discharge. A Cat 4 that couldn't qualify with a weapon. He was the only one that told he wish he hadn't enlisted out of more than 100.

.

Sounds like you were an outstanding recruiter! I told my recruiters if I ever caught them lying they would back in the fleet on the lousiest duty I could find for them within days. Never had an allegation substantiated against any of them. Honestly, I think they were more scared of my Chief Recruiter who was 6 foot 4 and about 250 killing them and disposing of the body in the pine trees of western Alabama where it would never be found.
My brother would have done that in a second. Recruiting duty turned him from wanting to make the Marines a career to counting the days until he was out. He would rather have been back in Afghanistan and would have happily taken a DEMOTION to do it.
