In the USA we do not vote for issues.
We vote for representatives that will care about the issues.
Today there is one representative for 700,000 US citizens. Ignoring significant numbers of constituents is inevitable. When people are powerless they rise up against "oppression."
This will be inevitable unless the government decreases the ratio of reps to constituents.
